OoTS #531 is up!

I think celia is not an NPC anymore but now Roys players gf has joined the table because her friend was only sitting grumbling at home.... and the DM gave her Celia.

Well Celia mustn't have any ranks in Diplomacy (and Wisdom as her dump stat) but it sure did make for an entertaining strip. It also sets things up for the plot to get moving a little quicker again. :)

And where is thog? I miss that funny guy! :(

The location of the comic itself is Removed - accessing the picture directly robs him of ad impressions, which probably help finance his site...
The only ad on the page is for Rich's own product.

Which I'm sure he'd like people to see!

He's asked that people not link directly to the strip, and we respect that. Please don't do so here.

Maybe it's covered in one of the books, not the comic?

The interesting thing is to look at the lengths of the discussion threads both here (EN World) and at GitP. They've *really* shrunk during the last 5 months compared to pre-Gen Con.

The buzz has left the building.*

Good. I think the comic (and its fan community) will be better off once all the people who have nothing to say but, "Meh, filler," to each strip give up and stop reading. Most of the people who commented on the strip back then had nothing meaningful to say anyway.

I'm also pretty sure Rich has said that he's not ever going "back to its roots" with a random dungeon crawl and rules jokes, and that he accepts the loss of any readers who don't like it.

So I'm guessing he doesn't worry about "buzz", whatever that is. It certainly is not synonymous with how many people are actually reading, though. Because as far as I can tell, Rich's traffic has actually risen since he returned from his September hiatus:

Yes, I am aware that Alexa is not a perfect tool by any stretch; it's what I could find. But if he were experiencing a substantial drop in readers, it should still be visible, even if the exact numbers are inaccurate. He clearly isn't, so we can surmise that there are still plenty of readers enjoying the strip as much as ever...maybe even more such readers than ever before.

Nothing, so far.

There's a brief scene in Start of Darkness that takes place there, but it's a meeting between Eugene Greenhilt and an informant; nothing Haley would ever know about. My guess is that he just introduced the place in that scene so that he could use it now.

I vaguely recall reading somewhere (the Origin of the PCs?) that Haley's father is being held hostage by a Thieves' Guild and she needs a huge amount of money to free him.

Maybe that was in Greysky.
