Elan may not have a great Int, but he understands plot structure so well. :D

I just love his inspire confidence use to keep himself from coming off as a know-it-all, too. :p

Ah, if only we all had at least one player like Elan, who's willing to choose to go along with the DM's plans occasionally in order to get to the next scene.

While that's often a positive trait in a player, most DMs know that most players hate it when their characters are captured.

Oh come on. Elan is just a metagamer that uses dramatic tropes instead of the dice mechanics.

Hm. I actually play in a group with a few players like that and I hate it when they do crap like that. It's cheesy metagaming IMHO. C'mon people! Don't just lie there; fight back! Wait, don't hand em your weapons! What are you doing?!? Noooo... :D

Isn't that rather the point? Elan is willing to go along with the DM despite being a player in a typically hated situation. A good player indeed.

That, or Elan has somehow taken Favored Enemy (fourth wall).

My last character bears a resemblance to Elan there -
Of course he started with a feeling that he was destined for greater things, and becoming a chosen one of the goddess of fate made it unshakeable belief. He only believed that good things would happen to him (or heroic death, that was okay to). His companions started calling him destiny's child, for his unflagging optimism and possibly childlike approach to reality. He was one of the emissaries to the dragon mentioned in my sig. His approach to life had a bit to do with her judgement of the party.

I did check with the DM occasionally to make sure his boundless optimism was not becoming annoyingly metagamey. Definately a line there.
