I liked how the MOB even had name tags over their heads...

So, can anyone work out the full name of their dining establishment? The Blizzard part is clear enough (and an obvious enough reference), and on the bottom line I can make out -TORAN-. Maybe RESTORANT, a deliberate mis-spelling?

It's most likely supposed to be RISTORANTE, in keeping with the mob theme.
 



Training was also a flagrant and popular method of Player Killing on a non-PvP server. Ah, fun times, fun times... :D

For it to work better, you have to first launch an out of topic troll about something (like the 2000 florida election). When every people on the server were angry after half an hour of flaming and trolling, they usually shut down the general chat channel. Then, and only then, when nobody was able to hear anyone shouting "warning ! train !", you could go make a train an unleash it upon the unaware community. :devil:

Ah, trains. I remember way back in the first Asheron's Call when a guildmate brought me to a high level area (Ayan) and had to log while we were out hunting. I ran like a scared ferret and pulled loads of stuff after me and pretty much into town.

Old school Everquest, almost a decade ago, with Trains of Death.

If you ever got mauled by a random train in the Commonlands or anywhere in the Desert of Ro on the Erollisi Marr server in between summer of '99 and summer of '01, I might well have done that (sorry).

Yeah, EQ back in the day really put the fear of death into PC's. You would resurrect of course, since it was an MMORPG, but the XP hit for doing so was awful and it was a long, slow, painful grind to get it back (not to mention repoping naked and having to retrieve your corpse, which meant you had to get to the place that killed you fully armed, while completely unarmed). While I loved the exploration and wonder of the old days, I certainly don't miss the over-the-top lethality combined with mediocre interface that game had at times (accidentally hit the wrong button in town and attack a merchant, who is a ridiculously high level character and kills you before you even realized you pushed the wrong button for example, or take a wrong step on the treehouse city of Kelethin which is hundreds of feet up in the air with no guardrails at all and deadly-realistic falling damage).
