On the note of the high AC versus DR, ethereal etc. You may note that when Belkar attacked him it said stab, stab, stab, stab, stab . . . for all his attacks. You may have noticed that attacks that miss are usually indicated as such in OotS. (by a 'swish' or something, its a poor example but see Roys 'swish' in the first battle with miko here. Hits are indiacated by words like slash, stab, wunk etc.)

This means that the attacks connected but caused no damage, ie 0 for 5. This means high DR. It probably me means the MitD also has a relatively low AC.

ANother example that is full of misses is here . I still absolutely love belkars line of "Wow, its almost like I'm a seasoned warrior and your both glorified pick-pockets."

BTW, I think MitD's "wishful thinking" is a red herring. I'm willing to bet that the two were somehow pulled by Durkon or V's master (V's mate probably went to his master to inform him of V's soul sale and he likely took interest).

Hmm, i would not risk a guess on MitD's AC, it does not seem to be actively trying to defend itself so could well be flat footed.
With that in mind i would also put my money on high DR.

So from the info supplied i would either go for a pseudonatual solar or my first choice...
An abomination between the Snarl(or some other entity) and a Barghest.
