So, Thog's now semi-permanently out-of-action, and we're going to see Roy vs. Tarquin and Durkon vs. Malack fights at some point?

Certainly looks like things are kicking into high gear.

I don't think Malack vs. Durkon is going to happen. Given how Tarquin just brushed him off, I think Malack is going to Heel Face Turn to get a shot at Nale.

I wonder what Malack's level is? He might be the same level as Durkon. He hasn't cast a spell above 8th-level, and obviously not as smart as Tarquin, although he's obviously a scary combatant.

I have the feeling that Tarquin is along in part because he does not trust Nale to advise him when he has control of the gate. Perhaps he also intends to turn on Nale just after Nale defeats the OotS. I can see him taking control of the Gate before Nale has the chance then offering Nale to Malack.

Now see, that's just wrong.

Any DM knows that when you pit the PC's against their evil counterparts, they are supposed to be a level or two higher than each of their foes. You can't pit them against a team where all the opponents are a level or four higher than them; they wouldn't stand a chance. Hasn't Rich ever heard about balanced encounters?
