[OotS] One always tells the truth...

I worked out what the solution would be (though I thought Belkar would be the one to do it) two panels in, but the execution still made it hilarious. Well played, Rich!

Is 'wallowing' the word you want to use? It seems to have negative connotations that you don't intend. Unless you do intend, in which case I'll shut my stupid mouth:)

Anyway, I'd just like to take this chance to say that I'm glad for the existence of the strip. Possibly I should tell Rich Burlew that.
Oh, no. Wallowing is a GOOD thing. You wallow in things when you are really, really indulging yourself. It can be bad (wallowing in self-pity is a common example) but it can also mean just enjoying yourself without regard to how it looks.

Unlike some people I really enjoy the character-building bits of the strip. But I love the funny too. OOTS rocks.

Me, too. I think he strikes a nice balance between plot, gag, and character development. I think this is what sets him apart from most of his contemporaries. Were it just a series of one-note strips, it would have lost its appeal.

Not that such strips can't be funny. Calvin and Hobbes, arguably the greatest comic strip ever, was defiantly anti- character development. But there are few who can aspire to Watterson's level.
