2) I was NEVER informed about any of these problems until I contacted Dragon-Dungeon/Paizo/Johnny Wilson personally !
Read Johnny Wilson's post again. He says he cannot talk about the problem for legal reasons. This means his lawyer has informed him that discussion of the case outside of court may have a detrimental effect on the outcome. This is the kind of thing a lawyer tells you when you expect to litigate, IOW Pazio may be preparing to sue someone over this problem.

Whether or not European privacy laws have any bearing on this or not, it is old fashioned "don't show your card before all the bets are in" legal rambling that is buttoning his lips.

OTOH, he may also be worried that the subscribers will sue Pazio and that's why the lawyer told him not to talk about it.

In either case, until something happens that changes that lawyers mum order, you probably will not hear anything from Pazio about this matter.

As always, IANAL. This is pure wild speculation on my part.

Hmph! And people call ME a troll...

Hammer, this issue has been dealt with ad nauseum on these boards. The situation has been explained to you several times over. Quit your whining already.

:):):):) happens. Cope.

It was not an attempt at a troll. It was attempt to cover both sides of a complex matter that was being overly simplified by both sides in the argument. I have had to deal with international import/export law and trust me it gets wierd. (An entire shipment of foodstuffs destroyed because one of the items in the shipment was a case of haggis comes to mind...)

I rather suspect that I would simply write the money off as lost, and be happy if and when a refund or continuation of my subscription was provided. But that is just me, I have had to deal with similar issues when magazines I had subscriptions to folded. In none of those cases was any reimbursement provided. (Creative Computing, Challenge, and Different Worlds.)

At this point I am sure that Mr. Wilson realizes that he has a number of unhappy subscribers, whether Hasbro U.K. either knows or cares is a seprate issue, but I doubt that they read this forum. Perhaps it is time to turn our attentions elsewhere?

In the event that the trolling comment was not addressed to me I apologize. I am a bit sensetive on that subject.

I'm pretty sure it was aimed at hammer, but we'll never know; DDK has been banned from the boards apparently.

I think it was aimed at me, but I don't mind.

DDK is apparently happy for customers to get ripped off, whether by design or incompetence.

I'm afraid I won't "get over it" anytime soon, as my faith in Paizo and their associates, including Hasbro UK and the distributor, has now been destroyed.

I will carry on buying both Dragon and Dungeon, because I love the content, especially in Dungeon, but from my local newsagent (Foyles in London Street, Basingstoke). I will pay more for it than when I subscribed, but at least if they can't get it (HASN'T HAPPENED YET), I won't have already paid for it.

hrm.. i hadn't thought about this.

i wonder if the advertisers in dragon are complaining yet. they paid for a 50k distribution rate and they're not getting it. that's probably something else they're worring about over there...

Who said that? ;)

While I can sympathize with what the European subscribers are going through Hammer of Ulric has been nothing but beligerent in his posting to this thread. You are angry - I can see that and you have good reason to be but taking out your frustrations on some of the posters here hardly seems worthwhile.

I am hoping that you guys at least get your money back if not your missing mags.

I just thought of something. Would all of the missing mags that weren't delievered just be sitting a warehouse somewhere? That may mean you coudl actually get all of the back issues owed to you at some point (whenever all this crap you guys are going through is finally resolved)

Point in fact: if Paizo hadn´t saved the Dragon (and the Dungeon) Mags, they probably wouldn´t exist today.

That doesn´t mean they should get away with everything, but if the mags would´ve gone down the drain then you wouldn´t have missed some issues... there wouldn´t have been any issues at all.

So while there´s a shift between mayor and not-so-mayor, be patient.

I just don´t think they´re being cruel or "milking it for what it´s worth". They are just trying to deal with it. And that just might take some time...

This is only my own opinion based on my game retail experience, but I'm pretty sure that Dragon and Dungeon would have no problem in finding game publishers interested in buying and publishing them: they are the most widely circulated magazines in the gaming field (surely in the RPG field, albeit I'm sure that White Dwarf, Inquest and Scrye have a good readership too) and if a dead horse such as Campaign magazine can find a new publisher (for now...), than Dragon and Dungeon could too.

I'm most sure you have all read the post concerning the Italian edition of Dragon and Dungeon magazines, for the present time merged in one publication. I'm sure that more such deals could be in the works, especially for countries such as France, Germany and Spain: if you could sell your magazine overseas, then you can really be sure you have something good in your hands.

Ummm, that's assuming that they actually went up for sale. Quite often publishers don't try to find a new home for their lost waifs, sometimes because it's not worth the trouble, and sometimes just so they can attempt to ressurect them later if and when they think it profitable to do so.
