D&D 5E Opinions on Bladesinger

War magic would have been the better fit than extra attack in my opinion. The bladesinger mixes in magic and combat much like the eldrtich knight except that they come at it from the magic side instead of the combat side as an eldritch knight does.

Blade singers already have a busy bonus action though. Activating bladesong takes your bonus action, and so do many spells.

I like Bladesingers the way they are. Extra Attack synergizes nicely with Athletics Expertise for Roguesingers. It gives you a cheap melee control option which is also fun in roleplaying scenes so that you can, for example, grab an NPC bully by a small joint and kick his feet out from under him so that he winds up with his chin on the ground and unable to get up. Without Extra Attack that would take multiple turns of scuffling, but with Extra Attack the Roguesinger can do it in a single action.

After playing one, I don't think a bladesinger's bonus action is as busy as everyone thinks. It's only a single round where the bladesinger with war magic wouldn't be able to use it for a spell and an attack but then I often wouldn't be able to anyway since I'm not yet in melee. As for spells taking bonus actions then I'd say that would also be a problem for valour bard and the eldritch knight.

As for the roguesinger, I guess this is just personal preference. I'd prefer war magic because I think it fits the archetype better, you prefer extra attack because of the options this gives you which is fair enough.
