Opinions On E-Tools

Before we begin, let's please be reminded that we don't need a flame war over e-tools. Extending the nautical analogy, that ship has sailed repeatedly, and every time it always sank somewhere out in the harbor. :)

Well, I think its more akin to the Titantic... something that is better left in its final resting place.

Hey I've been using e-tools from the start and it was a little buggy and wouldn't let me make my own classes (which I never had a desire to do anyway) and now it's not buggy and works very well for everything I ever wanted to do, sorry you seem to have a personal grudge or something but as it stands now it isn't that bad of a product. Yes there are several other products out there and it would be of interest to check out before anybody made a purchase but as it stands e-tools is a very viable product.

It could go round and round here but in the end the person making the purchase just needs to research and get the program that best fufills their needs, there is no shortage of good programs out there and e-tools has finally joined the ranks of good products thanks to a lot of peoples very hard work.

My primary desire? To be able to quickly create complicated characters from the multiple books I own (WotC and otherwise) and be able to fire test them quickly so I can see what is interesting but in the end too deadly for my PC's and what looks like a challenge but is really a knockover.

Neither PC Gen nor Etools offers this yet, though PC Gen did at one point. I hope that both will in future when the Data Sets finally become available.

But in the end I think I'll stick with PC Gen because I anticipate it having more of the Relics & Rituals, Book of Eldritch Mights, and Quintessential goodness I've spent hard earned cash on.

***daydreams of a time when rpg books would come along with plug and play modules that would allow their material to be used with a uniform character generator***

PS - I think that's slated for Perfect World phase 7, scheduled for deployment sometime in 4012.
