Optimize or Thematics?

Cruel Irony

So after all of this discussion turns out fate had other plans.

In the last encounter I ended up getting two crits against me. The second one was for 30 points of damage, left me unconscious, and I was (eventually) revived by a friendly healing potion one roll away from death.

So, I'm not saying I should have just stuck with Stoneroot's Endurance, but it sure felt like it at that moment :P

One question - is this an Essentials-only game?

I only ask because generally multiclass feats are a better pick than Skill Training, and they can be more fun to roleplay.

There's several great multiclass feats which can get you access to Dungeoneering - for example, Bardic Dilettante or Warrior of the Wild, assuming you have the stats to support them!

Yes, its essentials only. Actually, after a couple of false starts with ADnD and DnD4 I finally managed to get a game going using the red box. I've already made people buy Forgotten Lands and didn't want to do too much. I think once we reach paragon I'll suggest allowing other material. I like the way paragon paths let you customize and they seem to have done away with that in Essentials.

Cool deal - I just wanted to check! Multiclass feats are the bee's knees and I always recommend them before Skill Training.
