I'm inclined to give Burlew more credit than that -- it's just a bit too easy. What would be a worthy story is a truly redemptive experience for Miko, a tale of soul-searching and self-sacrifice that will elevate her back, if not to paladinhood, to the path of righteousness.

That would seem to me to be a bit weighty for a strip featuring stick figures. I think Rich will choose the option that allows him to make the most humorous strips he can, and the story of Miko's redemption is probably not that option.

She can redeem at the moment of her death. Rich has already telegraphed her turn to the darkside a few weeks ago. It is going to happen, Miko sympathizers be damned. She is a foe of the OotS. The OotS are the stars of the comic. Her becoming blackguard will allow the entire party to fight her. They will win and the comic will go on.
