Order of the Stick Haley-speak

Likewise. I'm pretty sure that I read that as quickly as if were typed correctly. Our brains truly are amazing.
As a species we use less than 10% of it. The possibilities of what the rest of it can possibly do are beyond our comprehension.

Amazing, indeed. A funny thing is that I have the most difficulties with the first sentence. The reason is not only because I have first to get used to to the concept, as I still stumble on a second reading. I suppose it's because my mind has the "cdnuolt" registered as two words.

It reminds me of this email I got a few years back:

Holy moly, the only word that caught me for more than a split second was - uesdnatnrd. When I looked at the paragraph as a whole, I thought "what the heck is this gibberish?" (I honestly didn't think that I would be able to read it). I guess that the human mind truly is phenomenal.

Oh, one more thing - I love Haley-speak (between her and Belkar, I don't know who my favorite is)...

That "couldn't believe" paragraph is actually very carefully constructed to be readable. Look at some of the words, such as Cdribgame (they list it as Cmabrigde, leaving all the vowels and consonants in the right syllables and keeping the combinations of "br" and "dg" together, albeit the latter is reversed), or pomenahnel (they list it as phaonmneal, keeping all the consonants in the correct order and keeping the p and h together). I'm not sure what word "rscheearch" is supposed to represent: if it's "research," it's got an extra c and h.

I rewrote the paragraph once by rearranging consonants and making everything as phonetically readable as possible, and it became very difficult to read.

Wow, I didn't even realize that when I first read it. Now that you mention it, it notice it, but I automatically read it as research anyway.

The longer and more wacky the word is, the more difficult it is to read. Most of the words in that paragraph are only like about 4-5 letters long, which means that the most change a lot of those words see is a simple switch [like mind to mnid] so the shorter words aren't TOO difficult to read.

I suspect, for example, you'll have a harder time reading the rest of my post, because I have made a drieteable cochie to ostubcafe my mainneg by scinelteg clapictomed words. In them, I streapae cannostons, ranagaree them, and oreswhite svitre to devicee the andiecue as to the crecrot intrapoetintern of my stencenes.

(my apologies if I've left out any letters; I tried to make it accurate).

". . . because I have made a deliberate choice to obfuscate my meaning by selecting complicated words. In them, I separate consonants, rearrange them, and otherwise strive to deceive the (misspelled) audience as to the correct interpretation of my sentences."

You were saying?

(edit: I stuck this in spoiler tags in case anyone else wants to try it out. Hope you don't mind, ranger! -Daniel)

I was saying you would have a harder time reading my post than you did reading teh original. Of course you can get it; however, most folks will have to puzzle over it, not being able to read it at full-speed. If you read it at full speed, well, good on ya, freak! ;)
