Orgins: It has started

They're saying huge numbers for registration. I saw lines all morning - up until around 3pm the registration area was packed. Origins is estimating about 15,000 attendance at this point.. but that was early numbers from the press contact.

I also got the feel the Dealer room was smaller and I think a lot of that has to do with the lack of display by Wizards. It's funny how little product and space they are taking at the con. White Wolf is bigger and this year their site is smaller than the last two years.

The Dealer's Room is smaller this year. A lot of manufacturer's chose to sit out Origins because of the high cost versus their return on sales. Instead, they are investing their money into Gen Con, which has a tradition of making more money.

Hey Crothian, I need a favor. Go over to the Magnificent Egos booth and tell Chris Clark to call me at home. Also, check out their LE miniature if they have any left.

Day Two

I hunted the used book places for a copy of storyteller Adventure but it seems to be nowhere found at this con much to my disappointment. So far, great freaking convention.

I don't know which way you're leaving Columbus, but the New Dimension Comic Store in the Butler, PA mall has 2 or 3 copies of this. It's only 3 hours or so from Columbus, and on the way if you're headed east.

No pictures to post but a quick update. Made it through the dealer room at a more leisurely pace yesterday. It still felt smaller than last year, I suspected it was because companies were saving up for GenCon as Ghostwind mentioned. Still a good time though and I'm not really looking for much this year. We did browse the new Thieves World sourcebook from Green Ronin. It looks like it could be a lot of fun. Spent a little time talking to Erik Mona about the Shackled City book. It sounds really good and heard a little about the poster maps and the new adventure that will be included in the book.

RPGA game in the afternoon, Legacy of the Green Regent. That was a good time and we had a fun GM. AS usual though the RPGA had the wrong events running compared to what had been in the registration book. LGR21 and LGR22 were running instead of LGR22 and LGR23 as listed. Standard Operating Procedure for the RPGA I think... ;) That evening we played an open game a guy from our normal group was running. D&D game out of Dungeon. It was a fun time as well.

Today it's back for another RPGA game and see what En Worlders we run into at Gordon Biersch tonight.

Sorry to hear there is a "family situation" and I hope it works out okay in the end. Nevertheless, thanks for the reports from the convention front, Cro (and everyone who adds to the thread).
