D&D 4E Original 4E Monsters

Like the phane and pit fiend, some people are less happy with how these turned out, so... a quick elite hill giant and a solo earth titan. Titan could use some rewording, but you'll get the flavor of it at least.

Beat me to it - that really got my monster making muscles into twitching. But I've written up an attack as replacement for the, IMHO, boring "Sweeping Club":

Hurling Blow (standard, encounter) * Weapon
+17 vs. AC; 1d10+7 damage; on a hit against a Medium or smaller target, push 4. If this push ends in another creatures square, make an secondary attack: +17 vs. Reflex; 1d6+7 damage and push 1.

What do you think of it?

The secondary is on the creature at the end, right? You'll need some kind of wording for that. Also, you can't normally end in another creature's square, so you prolly need some wording like 'If the creature is pushed into another creature, the target is knocked prone and make a secondary attack against that creature.' Or something like that?

So very soon, we'll get to see the actual monster manual and stuff and get a real feel for things

Yeah. I just wanted to keep it as short as possible - because a giant playing golf with characters would be really memorable!

I love how much more tactically involved things are, moving around and being moved around. Like I threw in a vampire boss who kept turning into mist and becoming a new form after defeated... so they finally trapped him in a bathhouse with daylight outside and had the task of defeating him in the rushing water or sunlight, with him struggling to get out.

Also having a mix of difficulties, like having a level 4 elite, level 8 elite, dozen minions, all in the same fight.

Very much in favor of things so far.

Well, my 'vacation' is over, back at it. I've got an odd question for today... let's say I put together a couple monsters and I've got a bunch of extra space on the page.

Like so:
Bloodblade Knight (Level 18 Brute) and Bloodblade Lord (Level 21 Brute) PDF

I figure it'll get some more flavor text, but there's clearly enough room there for something else major so I wanted to think on it some first.

For example, I could include:
a special 'boss' one (high level elite probably)
a sidebar with commentary
more encounter groups
details on the ritual to make them
an adventure idea
etc.

So, the question mostly becomes, what would people prefer?

For the few people still lurking - anyone know good ways to obtain volunteer artwork? I've been more than happy to try and learn how to make pdfs, layout text, get a little practice on writing, whatever... but I'm no artist and it occurs to me I should probably have some kind of cover art. I just don't want to have to spend a lot of money for a project I'm doing entirely for free.

Just so it's said, I'm not sure how many updates of this thread I'm going to do in the next couple weeks. I plan on concentrating on working on putting a playtest version together for the June 13-20 timeframe - I figure a week with the monster manual and DMG monster rules should let me get things pretty straightened up and ready for feedback.

I may do previews before that. Or not. It's pretty quiet here and I've got a lot of work to do
