Origins Guest of 'Honor'

Keeper of Secrets

First Post
I figured someone would find this amusing . . .

I was working security at Origins, assigned to the CCG room. It was early Sunday morning and I am roaming around, looking for troublemakers (of which I found none). Then I saw someone playing Pokemon who looked very familiar. I approached him, looked at his badge and sure enough, it was precisely who I thought it was - William Houng of American Idol 'fame.' (The guy from two years ago who tried to sing Ricky Martin's 'She Bang' and who was plastered all over the worst of the worst ads for American Idol.)

I waited until he was done and went up to him and told him I was pleased to meet him. He seemed a little pissy that I recognized him. I told him he should have cashed in on his status and tried to come as a guest but he looked kind of sad and dejected.

Wow, I'm surprised Hong flew all the way from Australia to come to Origins.

Well, ok that's less funny since Hong isn't reading ENworld currently.

He's a pretty recognizable guy. I'm surprised lots of people didn't recgonize him.

I was, too, until I realized that the Pokemon players tended to be a little on the young side.

Poor guy wants to live down THAT kind of fame....doesn't like the fact that people only remember the times where you humiliate yourself. :p

For a guy who has appeared on several ads for American Idol and some phone ads, I would think he would be a little cooler about it.

Not to mention, he even released some cds. (At least one, anyway).

Still, fame is really only good when it gets you hot chicks (or guys, depending) and free stuff. Otherwise, I imagine it's something of a burden, albeit the first part makes up for it.
