Bah. Telemarketers know what they are in for when they accept the job. I say give 'em all the hell you can. Those bastards call me at 6 or 7 in the morning sometimes. I work 3rd shift so if they wake me up, I feel justified in talking about their mothers sex life.

This one only works if you're patient, and you explain it to your friends and family.

From now on, every time you answer the phone, answer with:

"Hello? Can I speak to Crystal please?"

Amen to that.

I've worked third shift too so I know how that goes.

There's a little thing called free will. Something the Nazis didn't understand at Nuremburg when they gave the excuse "I was only doing my job." Telemarketers also seem to lack this understanding.

*End Rant*

LOL I love these ideas. Im of the same mind about telemarketers. We could say the same thing about drug dealers- dont blame them they're only doing their jobs-gees.

Well, it's still a job, and some people do actually have to take that job because they can't find anything else, especially with the economy being down recently. It's alright to just hang up on them, or even to say, "You guys get on my nerves when you call while I'm [insert thing here]," but please, if you consider yourself a decent individual, don't get yell at them, insult them, or give them a hard time. Sure, you might be angry, but there's no reason to make their life hard. I think movies and stories have shown us that revenge is seldom beneficial, so just be nice, and simply hang up.

Or, you can ask for them to give you some information about who they're calling for, then ask to be put on the 'do not call' list. Then, if they do call you again, you can take some legal action. But you can't do this if you get angry at the person calling.

Be a good person, and don't hate telemarketers; ignore them.

hmmmm comparing telemarketers to drug dealers? That's about the most rediculous statement I've ever heard.

If they called you a 6 or 7 in the morning it's because the computer put your information on their screen.

The person on the other end of the phone is a person and deserves the same respect that any other person in the world does. Here is how you should handle telemarketers if you don't want to be bothered.

1) What company are you calling from, not who are you calling on behalf of but whose office are you sitting in? (If it's a large telemerketing firm this will get your their name.)

2) Put me on your do not call list. (You just got put on the corporate do not call list instead of the customer's do not call list.)

3) Write down the date, time and company name. If that company calls you again (after the two week grace period) call the FCC and have them shut down.

When I was a telemarketer peole who were rude to me got put in for a callback in 5 minutes.

Against my better judgement, I've been a telemarketer three times. The first was when I had been looking for a job (any job) in Upstate New York, and I answered an ad to work at a "Marketing firm." To be honest, I was naive, and had no idea of the hatred people have for telemarketers, since my my aunt and uncle (who raised me) weren't on any major lists, and we had never really recieved sales calls.I lasted about 2 months before I found another job and quit. The second time was when I moved down to CT to live with my dad and make up for lost time. He got me a job in his telemarketing office, setting up estimates for siding and windows, where I stayed for 8 months. I met my current girlfriend at that job, and we have a 4 year old son together. The last time was only for two weeks, selling magizine subscriptions, before I got my crappy security job. I needed fast work, and to get back into the workforce after trying my hand at freelance writing for 8 months.

The point is, not all telemarketers are malicious, just misguided. Some grow bitter, like I started to, from being yelled at from both sides of the phone. A lot of offices have a person hired for "morale" who alternately doles out phony praise, and basically makes you feel like human garbage. It's a wierd little racket, and one that I hope fades out of existence.

telemarketers

Yep. I once went out with a girl who worked for a telemarketing firm. She said that they had to wait for three "no"s before they could let you go.

The best thing to do with telemarketers would be to tell them as often as you can that you don't want the service they are promoting. They'll let you go. If, after three "no"s, they don't let you go, then I think you're free to tell them "I don't want to speak with you any longer; goodbye," and then hang up.

by the time I tell them once that I am not interested I'm already hanging up the phone, my wifre on the other hand is far too polite and will listen to their speel for EVER!:D

How gratuitously malicious.

As for those folks that are calling for Crsytal, tell them up front that it's $2.99 for the first minute, $.99 for each minute thereafter, and ask for a credit card number.

Of course with telemarketers you can always answer the question"Is mr/miss (insert name) there?"
With the answer
"(Insert Character name) is not worthy of answering the question of a kobold! I have smited many creatures like thee across the side of my blade. I have even taken out Frostingdeath with but a blow of my mighty axe.. (continue and don't let them get a word in edge wise.)
;)
