What excites me is the EAGLES' victory tonight... :D

I'll grant you this much: while the Patriots game was much more exciting in the last quarter, the Eagles game was better all-around football.

Donovan McNabb is fast becoming my new favorite quarterback.

Raiders got screwed. That was apparent. Considering that that was the same Ref that screwed the Pats when they played Oakland 20 some years ago, i wonder why he gave the game to the Pats. Oh, no i don't, i know why he gave the game to pats. Louse.

But hey, if we had put you guys away when we had you beat, this wouldn't have been a problem, either. Ah well, i guess i cheer for D-Nabb. He did great things for our school and is a great guy.

I agree. The Eagles-Bears game was better, but I'm not sure that says much (the Bears didn't exactly show up for most of the game). The Pats game was absolutely more exciting in the last quarter, but for most of it, I just wanted it to be over — and I'm a big Patriots fan. The novelty of the snow wore off really quickly when I realized that no one was really going to be able to (1) rush the passer and (2) receivers and backs weren't going to really be able to do much with the ball. I'm glad the Pats won, but I can't help but feel that it was a gift. Maybe it was technically not a fumble (at least the booth on last night's game indicated that there was some sort of hitch that made it an incomplete pass), but, good Lord, as much as I like to see the Pats win, that was a fumble.

(*rant* did the booth last night drive anyone else crazy? I mean, do Simms and Gumbel care at all about substitution packages and/or formations? The only substitution they mentioned with any regularity was when the Patriots or Raiders switched halfbacks. I could be wrong, but enough about the snow, I can see there's snow on the ground. Hell, I can look out the window and see the snow, just tell me who's on the field. *growl/end mini-rant*) :D

Actually, the referee in 1976 (the guy who called roughing the passer on Ray Hamilton for late contact with Ken Stabler) was Ben Dreith, who watched last night's game from his home in Utah, and is, I believe, quoted in today's Boston Globe, as saying that it was indeed a fumble. As I say in my previous post, I agree. It was a fumble. Last night's referee was Walt Coleman.

Best,

I have to agree, it was a fumble plain and true, but by the rules, it was an incomplete pass. hence, the ruling was changed to an incomplete pass.

I think that rule will be looked at in the off-season.

The bears didn't show up, which hurts me too, because of my chicago ties. but regardless of both games, i think we'll see the superbowl participants be the winners of todays games.
