[OT]Blackout -- how long were you without power?

I live in Petersurg, Mi and our power was out for almost exactly 24 hours.
The thing that irritates me is that I was at Cedar Point when the power went out. I was about 4 minutes from getting on a ride. Of course that also means that I didn't get stuck on a ride like many people did. The Cedar Point back up generator is just strong enough to run one ride at a time, so they could get people off the rides.
Worst ride to be stuck on:
The Space Needle. Those poor people were trapped in that thing for about an hour. You could see that the had the door open and everyone in there was fanning themselves. It had to have been over a 100 degrees in that thing.

Cedar Point took peoples names and addresses, so we might get a refunde, but I highly doubt it.

I would guess maybe five or six years ago, there was a huge thunderstorm on Labor Day, knocked power out for a week. Let me tell you, more than electricity, I have never been so appreciative of having a gas-powered water heater and stove. I can't tell you the number of people that used our shower in that week. :)

Lost power in Mississauga (suburb of Toronto) around 4:20pm, and got it back at around 3:30 - 4:00pm. It was a great time to play some D&D...especially on Thursday night. Broke out the candles and played 'til 1:00am. Only downside was having to get up to go to work in the morning!

We were lucky here in Albany, our power came back Thursday night around 8 p.m. Only down about 4 hours.

I was just leaving work when the power went out. So I went back, unplugged my computer, and headed out. I hope to never, never drive through the city without traffic signals again. People were pretty good about taking turns, but it's just scary trying to guess what the other 8 cars approaching the intersection are going to do.

Hope everyone who's still without power gets it back soon.

Just last winter, here in Lexington, we were without power for two weeks due to an ice storm. To top it off, I had no source of heat or anything like that. So, the first night, I slept in fifty degree weather, and from then it was shelter to shelter until I found out my sister had power, and huddled there.

Never, have I been so appreciative of power.

Though, were it summer, I could have just slept outside. :D

I'm about half an hour away and we got ours back between 7:00-7:30, I was outside at the time so I'm not sure when exactly it was.

Of course this was the third or fourth time in the last couple of months our power has gone out.

I hope to never, never drive through the city without traffic signals again.

This is the reason our Exalted game was canceled, the ST was going to have to pick up one of the other players from Albany, but after his wife got home and said how bad traffic was he decided it wasn't worth it.

I had the best possible situation. My work's power dropped out at 4, so we left early once we realized the NATION was w/o power. ;)

I somehow beat the rush home (20 min commute) to find that we never lost power at home. Friday morning, I get a personal call from my boss saying not to come in as power is not restored. I use a personal day and get it off with pay. She said she's going to call me early Monday if the power's still not on.

W00t! (before anyone calls me insensitive, over the winter we had an ice storm that left us w/o power for 6 days, so I think I've payed my dues!) :)
