[OT] Blues Clues

Did you know that Andy Yerkes, one of the writers for Bear in the Big Blue House, also wrote two episodes of "The Tick"?...

"Coach Fussel's Lament" and "Tick vs. Reno, Nevada, The"

I always wondered why I, as an adult, enjoyed the show almost as much as my kids did. I think that's it... Good writers.

Damn straight! We happen to have that Little People video too. I think we have made it "dissappear" because it drove me and my husband nuts. I think it was the narrator who really did it. Like the sheep and corn one... "Careful Michael, rainbows are slippery." Argh!
A lot of people have that video since it comes free with just about every Little People item they sell. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that finds them to be extremely disturbing. The narrator sounds like the guy that played J. Peterman on Seinfeld.

OK, two things. First of all, in America, Teletubbies is not dubbed, unless someone else with a British accent did the dubbing. Since that would kinda make you wonder what the point was...

Oh, and what exactly is a Detroit twang? When I lived in Texas, I heard twang. Now my wife and I are the only ones who talk with a twang since we moved to Detroit...

You are correct that Teletubbies isn't dubbed. However, some of the video clips they play (but not all), are re-shot for American audiences. What I want to know is, what was the original video that it was too British for a two year old to enjoy?

I think the narrator might be re-dubbed. Not sure? The speaking-tube voices almost definitely aren't. Boy, let me tell you that I sure hope the Teletubbies themselves aren't re-dubbed. The concept of that scares me.

Do other people thing that Dipsy smokes? I mean, listen to his voice. I also think that La-la is eastern european because she pronounces all her w's as v's, as in Tinky-Vinky. Either that, or maybe she's a vampire.

Just to get on RPGs for a second. One of the best games I ever played in, was at a con. We played "The search for the Holy Quaile" in which we had to rescue the Kings favorite bird. We fought giant teletubbies (but didn't know what they were until the end. Thier laugh was scary, and the one going into his magic purse for fairy dust was nasty). We fought a big purple dragon with a sonic breath weapons that sounded like "I love you". and finally, the kicker was a red headed smiling (with a demented joker like permenant smile) woman, who was crooning the star spangled banner, while hundreds of starving third world children followed her every command. (Kathie Lee). That one was tough, as we had to get through the children who would not move, and each had 1 hp left. Oh, did I metion we were all Palidins. And that one of us had a Horn of valhalla, and a 5 int. Yea, the order to the beserkers (Who had the mob of starving children in between them and the evil Kathie Lee) was "Get her!". When we were done, there were only 21 out of 200 children left. We felt awful, LOL.

I know this is the childrens story thread, but I had to add this. In that game, my friend payed a squire, to one of the other paladins. They milked it so bad. I can remember the paladin launching his trident at an enemy, then telling my friend "Squire, fetch my trident". My friend woulf then wade thrgouh the bttle, to get the weapon. It is also where this memorable exchange came from.
Paladin: "Squire, mount my horse"
Squire: "Not again, sir, I'm still sore from the last time"

And don't forget that the voice of Ray, the sun, is done by the same guy who used to do the 7-UP commercials...

Geoffery Holder (or soething like that? If so, he was also Baron Samedi, voodoo god of death in "Live and Let Die."

I don't have kids, but I am one. I pesonally like the Snoopy and Winnie the Pooh holliday specials. And sometimes on the weekends, if I wake up early, I watch Poohbear on the Disney channel.

What about Franklin?

Why isn't he called Turtle? I mean his friends are all called Bear, Rabbit, and Fox.

The only thing I don't like about Blue's Clues is the message they try to get across that "If you put your mind to it, you can do anything." I just don't believe thats true. Humans have weaknesses and limitations.
