{Ok, get the bad jokes over with already!)

Borrowed this non-fiction book called The Mummy Congress: Sciene, Obsession, and The Living Dead. It's an intriguing study of mummies throughout human culture and history. They don't end with Egypt, you know. A good source of ideas for pulp and fantasy gamers. Well worth picking up!

Uh who's Strom Thurman?

Strom Thurmond is a U.S. Senator from South Carolina.

He has been in the Senate for abmost 48 years (8 terms). He's turned 99 in December. These days, he is pretty much a senile old man, and will not run again for office (last I heard).

What his biography (on the web) doesn't mention is one record he holds: the longest filibuster (an obstructionist procedural tactic) on record, against the Civil Rights Act.
