OT: Buy A Castle, Become a Baron

Well Fellows...

There would be nothing quite like owning a genuine Scot's barony in Scotland itself. I agree with all who wish they had the wherewithal to buy and maintain the place. Now, if anyone here does actually win the Lotto and get it, I do hope I'll get an invitation to game there of a weekend;)

Cheerio,
Gary

Which was never actually ratified, conspiracy theories of Montana Militia types notwithstanding.

The evidence for whether it was or was not isn't quite as cut and dry as either side in the debate claims.

More importantly if it had in fact been ratified, the ramifications wouldn't be nearly as far reaching as Dodge & his supporters want to believe...the idea that it would prevent lawyers from holding public office is tenous at best (and "tenous at best" is being VERY generous). :)

That being said we should probably let that matter lie (at least in this forum) as it will quickly cross over into verboten territory for the board, which of course wasn't the intent of my original TIC comment.

Besides the which the topic at hand is 'Look at the pretty castle and wish you had the money to buy it'.

The Auld Grump, looking at the pretty castle, and wishing he had the money to buy it...

Hmmm property taxes of only 2,500 punds UK, not bad, not bad. Wow it has internet (high-speed I think), security cameras, a helicopter pad, backup uninterruptible powersupply and a secret room.

I'm afraid that unless there's some very obscure law about auctions of property in Scotland, the property tax would actually be 4% of the purchase price.

So that's 360,000 UKP and counting...

Edit: Oh yeah, and assume that the estate agent / selling agent will be taking 1.5% of that nine million...

Thanks for noting that!

I've loved floor plans since I was in my early teens. Sat up many a night drafting my own for castles and manor houses, in fact. Now why didn't the plans offered show the secret room?

Cheers,
