IGN gave it a positive review, but they mentioned that during combat you pretty much sit back and watch. Is this true?

Yeah, I saw it at lunch, too, but I'm still working on Freedom Force and Jedi Knight II. I'll probably pick it up when Best Buy does the inevitable $10 off sale after a few weeks. It does look like it has a number of interesting ideas, but it still looks like an enhanced Diablo-clone (click and kill baddies). Not that there's anything wrong with that... but I'm waiting for NWN (June 12).

Microsoft did not DO dungeon siege. They were just a publisher, it was done by Gas Powered Games, a company founded by Chris Taylor (The man behind Total Annihilation).

Well, depends on what they mean. If you are a low level char, in a mob then I DARE you to just sit back and watch. You'll be dead in seconds. Your attention in combat is mainly making sure you stay alive with potions, or casting a heal, armour, or whatever spell to spice you up. Your character will defend himself automatically but it's good to keep an eye on it in case you need to run
