[OT, cute] Loving your geek, tolerating his hobbies

Another advantage of geeks dating fellow geeks: one can build the other their own gaming PC so they can both play together. :D
True, but then you have arguments over who needs to go AFK to tend the kids or call 911 when the house catches on fire :D

This is the use of 'geek' that means anyone who cares about anything other than socioeconomic advancement. According to this definition, everyone who behaves as a human being and not a biological drone is a 'geek'. It's so general as to be quite useless.

Only a true geek would bother analyzing and responding in such a way. ;)

Now wait a minute, I'm a geek who cares deeply about socioeconomic advancement! Just not enough to quit blowing money on new computer hardware.

I'm a bit surprised that so many of you like that article. Personaly I found it outrageous. In so many ways it's wrong. Proper care and feeding of your geek. A yes no rule about buying stuff? Come on. What that article is basically saying is "hey ladies want a push over for a boy friend with earning potential? Date these suckers". At the end of it I was expecting it to say "They also don't mind if you shack up with other guys."

Some points
Everyone wants there "own space". How many parents or older married people have a "their room". It's very common.

Everybody who has ever gone on a date to the movies has at one time or another seen a movie they didn't want to. Both sides should have a good give and take. "Hey I sat through How to loose a Guy in 10 days your going to see Blah Blah with me."

Geeks like to travel in herds? Who doesn't like to hang out with their friends? Friends many times out last significant other relationships so your damn right I'm not going to ditch my friends.

I'm not trying to get anyone going but after reading the article and seeing so many positive responses I thought I should post. To me, it's an laughible article "advertising" geeks as potential partners who can easily be controlled and cuckold.

*shrug* It's a mainstream article on a mainstream dating site. You wouldn't expect it to be terribly nuanced. (Though I don't think they were talking about a 'pushover' boyfriend. From the POV of an average woman, a guy who doesn't roll his eyes at your girly hobbies is a plus.)
