[OT] Favorite Band?

Well, my tastes are eclectic at best.

Peter Gabriel is my all-time favorite from a consistancy perspective (I can count on one hand the number of his songs I don't thoroughly enjoy), but other artists/bands tend to have a smattering of songs I like more, just not as consistant in floating my boat.

On this list, and in no particular order:
Led Zepellin (pretty consistant, actually)
Loreena McKennit
Machines of Loving Grace
Neil Diamond
Portishead
The Corrs
INXS
Oingo Boingo
Vanessa Carlton
Bad Religion (again, pretty consistant)
Warren Zevon (depends on my mood)

I used to like NIN, and still think the beat is great, but something about it started to make me feel like I was dipping my brain in a festering pile of pus. Weird image, I know, but it's pretty close.

Show my age...

Supertramp
Styx
Cheap Trick

Hmmm, how could I have left Styx or Supertramp of my list? Oh well, I forgot Roxy Music, Split Enz and Porcupine Tree too. Always hard to narrow it down to one band.

I don't know how I could have forgotten these guys [Camper Van Beethoven]. I loved their version of "Oh, Death" and "Pictures of Matchstick men".

They recently got together to play a couple reunion shows in NYC, LA and San Fran. I was lucky enough to see one of the NYC shows, talked to Greg Lisher and Jonathan Segel afterward, etc. Very cool.

Bal Sagoth

!!!!!!

I've just gotten into Bal Sagoth recently. They are EPIC! :-)
I am surprised to see anyone else mention them.

The rest of my list in no particular order:
Nevermore
Die Form
:wumpscut:
Public Enemy
black tape for a blue girl
Banco de Gaia
Alice Cooper
Ozzy Osbourne
Pink Floyd

Eminem & Dr. Dre are probably my favorites. Em's each record has been better than the previous. That's not too common when it comes to music.

Dr. Dre is good, but he hasn't done many records.. both are classics, though.

Must be:
1)My Dying Bride (Doom, goth metal)
2)Black Sabbath
3)Blind Guardian
4) Led Zepplin
5)Iron Maiden

(I have never heard of the Might be Giants (that id the name is'nt it), are they an amrican grupo, what kind of music?)

Favorite band

Well, I'd hafta say my current favorite band is my friend's band, As Rain Falls. They play in the Worcester area, so if any of you ever get the chance, check them out. They're SOOOO good and I'm not just saying that to promote them. They really are good. Here's their website link:

As Rain Falls

Well, instead of being very general, I'll get very specific. There are only four CD's I can listen to over and over again, day after day:

1. The Sickness by Disturbed
2. ...And Out Came the Wolves by Rancid
3. Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy by The Refreshments
(It's okay to laugh at me for the next one. I laugh at myself.)
4. Crack'd Rear View by Hootie and the Blowfish

I was about to mention Covenant too but I thought that it might detract from Apoptygma Berzerk, who are in my opinion the better band. However, Apoptygma Berzerk is not a Swedish band. They're from our esteemed neighbor in the west, Norway. :)

Really? I think that Covenant are the better of the two musically, the last Apop was great but compared to the last Covenant one (United States of Mind) it isn't as good musically. But we can agree to disagree, they are after all both great.. and I might be biased since I have been involved in a number of drinking sessions with Joachim and Eskil and even fixed a failing piece of gear of Joachim's during a concert (Love that Duct Tape!).... ok ok I admit I am biased ;)

And I did know that Apop was from Norway, but I figured you being from Sweden would be a little more patriotic ;).
