Hello everyone. I'm still alive. In the last two weeks I've been to Maryland, cross country to California, back to Florida, then home. In that time I've had the opportunity to see a large variety of different landforms, from Kansas' wheat fields (sans wheat - it is winter after all), to the Rockies, and numerous canyons and "young mountains," as opposed to the "old mountains" - the Allegheny and Appalachian mountains near my home.

I've frankly been blown away by the experience. It's one thing to read about such landforms then try to describe them to players - basically rehashing what you've read. It's another to have been there, however briefly, and seen it. The suddenness with which the Rockies loom up west of Denver CO is has to be seen to be appreciated - no photograph can do it justice.

Anyway, I do miss conversations here and miss getting to play D&D on any basis at all. I'm hoping to make Marcon in Columbus OH if possible. In the meanwhile I'll be zipping around the country in a truck, taking in the sights and working on my new setting. It's fun - I've never had so much inspiration to work with before.

Later all.

I know *exaclty* what you mean, Michael. Everywhere I go, I get inspiration for new items, locales, NPC's and critters for my campaign(s). Reality, and it's author, is by far the best inspiration out there. ;)

If you're ever in the Sheboygan, WI area let me know. I can direct you to some swamps that are pretty cool. I used to muck around all the time and I've felt my old kid hangouts would be a great place to meet some Kobolds or a Black Dragon... :)

Good luck, Michael. I hope everything goes well for you, and hope your setting creation is truly inspired! :)

I kind of envy all that road travel.

Sounds like a good experience! I notice that you're in Lexington, when you're in town. If you don't have a group and can make the trip down to Berea, we'd probably be able to make room for you at my gaming table, when you could make it. I know how tough it can be when you can't play on a regular basis.
