(OT) It Snowed!!

In the latest San Diego weather news, we're supposed to get a nasty windstorm for the next few days. Gusts up to 80 mph. Which means travel in the mountains is going to be a pain. Past storms unloaded tractor-trailer rigs have been blown off the road.

Now if only rain would come with the wind. Make life really interesting around here.

I don't understand how people can get excited over snow.

Honestly, all it does is make it so I have to spend ten minutes in the morning cleaning my car off, five putting weight in the back end, and an entire commute of sliding around on the road.

Of course the snow Ohioans are talking about today is the kind of snow I like... practically none.

I love snow! I'd much rather shovel than mow grass or rake leaves. I like cold weather, and I like winter activities, like tobogganing, skating and snowball fights! My dog loves the snow, and runs around in it like a maniac.

Of course, I have a garage, so I don't have to clear the car off in the morning, and a car with all wheel drive, so I don't slide around. Makes a difference.

I hope we get hammered this winter. I'm eager for a real winter, like we used to have when I was a kid growing up just south of Cleveland.

I so second this. There is something that just takes me back to being a kid when I get up and see a foot of new snow on the ground. It changes the look of everything, and really brightens my day.

I hope it's not too bad around the airport; if there aren't any delays, I still won't get to Cleveland until almost 11:30 Wednesday night.

When I visit the parentals in winter, I usually end up looking kind of strange at San Diego airport. No one else has a thick winter coat on :)

Yes, Winter is coming. Finally, we get the temperatures to drop and the snow on the ground. We don't usually get November Snow in central Ohio, so this is pretty darn cool. Now, all we need is for the ground to freeze so the snow will stay.

Ah, and the whole time I was travelling around the mild weather followed me... I got one day of serious cats-and-dogs rain in Atlanta (hi, Diaglo!), and one day of fairly chilly, fairly windy in Massachusets- while just missing me was a major ice storm... grumble, I want some snow!

Well, I'll be leaving Indonesia and heading directly to Calgary after five years in constant balmy 30 degree weather (Celcius for the stubborn). There's contrast for you.

Since we haven't exactly had time to prepare for the move, my family will end up heading directly from the airport to a warm clothing store, dressed in our tropical clothes. Fun fun.

Still, I've always been the kind of guy you love to hate, who whistles while manning the ol' snow shovel. And I am REALLY looking forward to strapping on some skies again...

You want flat, look at Saskatchewan. The only reason you can't see Manitoba from the Alberta border is the curvature of the earth. No hills. No valleys. No trees. No water. Can't even call it a dustbowl. It's more of a dustplate.

No doubt.

Every time I visit my extended family in Saskatoon, I get dizzy spells (I grew up in the mountains and to see a perfectly flat horizon is, well, just not normal).

Yeah, ok, armac, so maybe a exageratted. A little. The whole province isn't flat and bare, just southern third and the western edge up to around the 55th parallel. If I never spend another summer in Regina it'll be too soon. But I actually like the Prince Albert area. The forests there are so different from the forests here; there's no undergrowth!

I want snow to! but living in the Netherlands, that will likely be not the case again this year :( I can't even remember the last white christmas :(
