[OT] Kimchee Burgers

Yes, Kimchee is like crack, and I'm an American who has only been to Asia once in my life. I've always got a jar of it open in my fridge, sometimes two, depending (I make my own sometimes, but it takes a while to make, so sometimes I'm out and only have store-bought). One thing I have found is surprisingly good is a kimchee taco... just make a taco like normal, with whatever you want on it (Beef, Beens, Letuce, Cheese, Sour Cream, for me), and then in lieu of peppers/onions/hot sauce, put some kimchee on it.

I've had Kimchee dumplings before, and they were quite tasty. I'm betting my boyfriend, who puts hot peppers on EVERYTHING, would love a Kimchee burber, though!

Hot foods in general seem to be addictive. I was a total pansy when it came to spicy foods ... hitting only fajitas and tacos mostly, but now it's hot wings all the way, hot peppers on pizza, and hot and spicy pizza sauce ... everything else tastes too plain!

Hmm, Kimchee Burgers. Not sure how I feel about that. I used to really like kimchee, but my half-Korean girlfriend at the time and her mother (cook par excellence) are about five years gone now. It really does smell up your house when cooking, but man it was good.

McDonalds and Regions

As a former McD manager, I know McDonalds offers regional specialties.

I also know that while the hamburgers across the USA remain fairly constant in flavor, there is a little regional "spicing" (e.g. New Orleans) that does exist.

Outside the USA, McDonalds attempts to adapt their menu to the locality.

KIMCHEE is very good. My wife, who lived in Korea for a year as a military brat, loves it. I am a quarter Korean and have been eating it since around 5. (Dipped in water to bring down the "hot" when I was a kid).

I don't think I would find a kimchee burger disgusting. It actually sounds pretty good.

Permutations of Kimchi

I’m not a big fan of kimchi, but after living in Korea for 3.5 years (now back in Canada), you kind of get used to it.

Kimchi + soju = wicked, wicked gas. Open a window before you light that match!

Actually, the best thing with beer (and for my money, the best Korean beer is 'Cass') is Dubu Kimchi, which is basically fried kimchi and tofu. Sounds weird, but the blandness of the tofu and the 3 alarm heat of the kimchi kind of complement each other. Or maybe they cancel each other out? I don’t know, but kimchi does have its uses.

Even if it does smell like 3 month old unwashed gym socks

I had nearly forgotten. When I lived in Maine all the McDonalds had lobster sandwiches, seemed like such an odd thing to find at a fast food joint at the time.

One of my players is a Korean-American, born and raised near Cleveland, Ohio.

The bard PC she has been playing in my campaign for the past 2 years is named... you guessed it.... "Kimchee."

p.s. I had no idea what it was either.

Cheers,
