[OT]Looking for a miniature

I'd also like to echo a few other peoples posts...

Modifing minis is fairly easy, and if you want very specific things, it's a skill you should learn. It seemed daunting to me, too, when I started... but now I'm at the point I can make some fairly drastic changes to minis... changing the face and hair, clothes, adding (or building) new shields, weapons, capes... swaping body parts from mini-to-mini (A VERY usefull skill, with heads...)... And it doesn't take that much in the way of supplies. An assortment of small pointy things (I use toothpicks, pins, etc), one decent small file (which you should have anyways if you work with minis, to remove little bits of excess metal from the casting), and a roll of kneedtite putty, which lasts practicly forever (Unless you start sculpting your own minis, like some of us have tried... then it goes faster).

What is Kneedtite putty, and how do you use it?

I assume its some variation of the epoxy putty that sculptors use. The putty of choice (I thought) was "Green Stuff". Its a strip of yellow to be combined with a strip of blue to make a maelable green putty. (I always assumed that when you see the professional "greens" before they go to casting, that they were green because they used "Green Stuff" as well.)

Anyway. I havent been able to find "Green Stuff" anymore on the West Coast USA, but Citadel has put out a white+blue putty that my sculpting friends say is just as effective. Any store that carries Warhammer should be able to get it. Mine cost $9.

If you are serious about sculpting, you also would like to buy a set of dental tools; that stainless steel pick is perfect for sculpting fine details like hair. I got a set for $12. (If you only need to sculpt an eyepatch, you could probably sharpen a toothpick or something. An X-Acto also can work.)

Yes, Green Stuff is the same as Kneadatite. In particular when cut into smaller pieces and sold by Grimes Orkshop.

Another good epoxy putty is Milliput.
