Well, the Kings are still alive...

One of the benefits of having such a deep bench, I suppose, is that they can handle the strain of a back-to-back schedule better than a team like Dallas. Now we'll see how they play on Tuesday.

Goodnight, Celts. Lakers are 2-2 with the Spurs. I would like to see the Lakers win again, myself.

Well, my beloved Lakers are out.

Can't say it's TOO much of a surprise. Yes, Fox was out and George was hurting and so were Fisher and Shaq.

But the reason the Lakers lost was twofold:

1.) They didn't make adjustments - especially defensively - on the Spurs.

2.) They played the way they played all year long - lazy. As though showing up and going through the motions would get it done. They bred this habit last year in the regular season and it was even worse this year. And when they went to flip the switch, well, they couldn't. Their bad habits caught up with them. The Spurs were far and away the better team.

Now, I'm rooting for the Mavs... if they win and everyone copies them, maybe we can go back to the days where the league average was 110 ppg and teams shot close to 50%. The Kings try too hard on D for my tastes.

I have to say, I think the Mavs have gotta be the ugliest team in the NBA. Of course, the Kings look like an advertisement for a national chain of tattoo parlors...

My Kings/Sixers finals pick from up-thread is still possible, but it doesn't look anywhere near as good as it did when I wrote it. I still think the Kings can do it (there are a lot of matchup problems for the Spurs, even without CWebb), but I'm not as confident in Philly.

I'm just REALLy glad it's not going to be the Lakers again this year. Right now, I'm rooting for the Nets.
