[OT] New Vampire RPG goth/horror movie

New RPG-inspired movie:

"Eternal Blood (Sangre Eterna)" deals with a pack of Mexican Goths playing a "Vampire" RPG called Santa Eterna that turns deadly when the gamers encounter a real vampire named "Dahmer!" It deals quite a bit with playing the game, even showing what happens to their characters inside the fantasy world of the game (providing many of the best and bloodiest "Vampire The Masquerade Meets The Matrix" scenes in the movie).

D&D has a brief mention ("I've seen some kids around school playing that Dragons game or whatever, but I have no iea what it's about...") and many polyhedral dice are rolled all at once for no apparent reason. Not sure if the director is a gamer judging by the nonsensical way he has the actors roll every possible type of die at the same time, LOL. Maybe the writer is, though.

It's not a bad movie, pretty gory but kinda stupid in that way so many B-movies are. Obviously filmed on a low budget and in Spanish but dubbed into English. Some cool imagery, and the DVD box cover kicked butt. It's presented by FANGORIA magazine (normally the kiss of death for any horror movie).

"Eternal Blood" is out at Blockbuster this week, if anybody's interested.

Actually just finished watching it and it turned out to be much better than I first thought: the Dungeon Master goes nuts and thinks everyone is a real vampire, then murders them... but are they really vampires? The film leaves this up in the air, which made for a disturbing ending. Also explored the DVD extras and read an interview with the director. He's not a gamer but decided to use Vampire RPG in his film. The film is made in Chile, not Mexico, and apparently Goth culture is huge down there. This was a pretty good movie, so I recommend it!

Great! It's been too long since I watched a preachy movie that told me in exacting detail how by continuing with my hobby I was going to become corrupted and turn into a mass murderer before going insane and pledging my eternal soul to satan. :)

Hey, who set the clock back to the mid-80's?!?

At least I can laugh about it these days! :D

Actually, it wasn't too preachy, though at first I thought it might be--- the finale changes the message entirely. Still, it does have a bit of a "MAZES & MONSTERS" feel to it. Where's Tom Hanks when we need him? ;)
