New RPG-inspired movie:
"Eternal Blood (Sangre Eterna)" deals with a pack of Mexican Goths playing a "Vampire" RPG called Santa Eterna that turns deadly when the gamers encounter a real vampire named "Dahmer!" It deals quite a bit with playing the game, even showing what happens to their characters inside the fantasy world of the game (providing many of the best and bloodiest "Vampire The Masquerade Meets The Matrix" scenes in the movie).
D&D has a brief mention ("I've seen some kids around school playing that Dragons game or whatever, but I have no iea what it's about...") and many polyhedral dice are rolled all at once for no apparent reason. Not sure if the director is a gamer judging by the nonsensical way he has the actors roll every possible type of die at the same time, LOL. Maybe the writer is, though.
It's not a bad movie, pretty gory but kinda stupid in that way so many B-movies are. Obviously filmed on a low budget and in Spanish but dubbed into English. Some cool imagery, and the DVD box cover kicked butt. It's presented by FANGORIA magazine (normally the kiss of death for any horror movie).
"Eternal Blood" is out at Blockbuster this week, if anybody's interested.
