[OT] Problems with Harry Potter DVD

We are having problems with Harry Potter DVD. We can't access the deleted scenes on the second DVD.

The problem is that these features are buried under stupid "games" you have to play to access the scenes. And on our el-cheapo DVD player, the games don't work.

Anyone here have any suggestions on how to get to them? This is in the US (whatever region that is).

Personally, I think the movie was long enough as released. But my daughter is getting upset. :(

Here's hoping the LotR DVD doesn't have such a stupid design....

I rented this the other day and spent an hour finding them. They are to be found in the classrooms section, potions and you are required to complete a series of problems to get to them.

One of the Reviewers from www.aintitcoolnews.com in her review gave detailed instructions on how to find the bonus material on disc 2 for the Harry Potter DVD. It was posted Monday so it may or may not still be there. Anyone interested can take a look at that site.
I'm glad I read the review and printed out the instructions which took up three pages.

Right. But I can't get the games/puzzles to work on my $30 DVD player. Anyone find any 'backdoors' to the deleted scenes?

Heh. My girlfriend spent ages trying to find where the deleted scenes were, and once you do eventually manage to get to them, they're not exactly all *that* special, or numerous.

LOL. Well, that's some consolation! :D

I was rather upset that they hid them, too. So far I haven't heard of a backdoor or anything like that to them. The deleted scenes aren't bad, but you have to remember if they were good they would be in the movie. They do become deleted for a reason.

Often (usually?), that is indeed the case.

But sometimes the reason is simply total running time, which has nothing to do with how good the scenes are or how much they mean to the movie. Some of the cuts in Army of Darkness were really bad, and imposed by the studio--which apparently wanted a running time of about 80 minutes. The director's cut is 96 minutes.

Now, having said that.... given the director of HP, I don't suspect the scenes will be so astounding that they'll improve the movie somehow. But we do want to see them. I may just have to go get a better DVD player.... ;)

If it's any consolation, while my DVD player and DVD-ROM drive are both capable of reaching the deleted scenes (there are two ways to navigate your way there), I cannot access the DVD games, as they seem to require a Windoze machine.
