Did anyone who paraphrased the above comment stop to think that the only reason this person is being celebrated and such moral weight attached to her actions is because she is a FREAKIN MEMBER OF THE BRITISH MONARCHY!!!! I'm glad i see the contradictions over and above cheap nationalist or pseudo-Imperial (For the Aussies and Canadians) sentimentality.
As to the tourism issue...complete BS, an utter strawman. Would someone explain to me how severing any remaining legal pretenses of the Royal family will in anyway diminish the marketability of Britain's PAST?!? Tourists visit a nation in order to observe aspects of its past, they are generally smart enough not to expect the place they visit to be in a historic limbo. In other words, all the pretty sights that Americans like to see can remain profitable, but they will be called what they are: MUSEUM PIECES!!
