Ships packing goods, loading as much as possible while waiting for the season of rains, when the winds change, grow strong, fast and rush to the west. If they wait too long they could end up water logged, trapped from the heavy downpour.
Pirate ships heading out from their hidden ports, putting themselves between the traders and their destination, like sharks waiting for their prey to come within striking distance.
The destination ports knowing ships will soon arrive. Merchants gathering warehouse space, readying goods for trade, gold flows as caravans, guards, and items are picked. They know they will get it all back, for Romans are rich, demanding, and willing to pay.
