Yes,

I have made my decision. Tomorrow I will be going in and applying for an Army ROTC. I must say, I feel a lot better now that I've made my decision. Now all I have to do is get all the paperwork together real quick like and hope I get it:D

Hey, good deal, Derian! I went through Air Force ROTC some 20 years ago, graduated, got my commission, and have spent the past 16 years as an Air Force officer. I don't know if you're planning on making a career of it, but the armed services really have a lot to offer.

What are you looking at doing in the Army?

Best of luck to you. Although I'd say you'd be better off in Air Force ROTC (but then I have to say that, as I'm a Captain in the USAF). Seriously, good luck with the paperwork nightmare and hang in there and before you know it, they'll be pinning those shiny gold bars on your lapels.

Hooah!

Back off, flyboy -- us groundpounders need quality recruits, too! ;)

Congrats on your decision, Derian! I had a lot of fun in my time in ROTC, and met a lot of people who are still close friends to this day -- not counting the long-range financial and career benefits, which are substantial.

Good luck!

Fair enough, Olgar. I'm heading to a Combat Comm unit so I'll be spending more time with the LPC* crowd. Kinda looking forward to it, too.

Derian, again, best of luck in ROTC and Med School.

*For the uninitiated, LPC is slang for a "Leather Personnel Carrier," i.e., combat boots.

if you want to join a real uniformed service as a medical officer, join the USPHS (United States Public Health Service):D

yes, the Surgeon General is a General. ;)

you can transfer services once you get tired of the LPC crowd.
