I'm back in school, heading for my third post-secondary thingamadoodle (I have a Uni degree and a College diploma already), but this time I've gone back for Chef School.

Today was my third day - a prep to the Baking class. The chef demonstrated three basic bread recipes (one of which I'm making at home right now for practice), and at the end of class, we got to sample the goods!

OoOoOoOoooooo, so tasty!

I hope mine turns out half as good tonight. :)

We head back for staff development & meetings and stuff next Wed, and the kids come back on the Tues after Labor Day. So I've got a bit of time yet... We take the hit during the year with fewer days off and at the end of the year.

Mark...not eaten! Actually its been a good couple first days. This is my 5th year to teach so I've got it down now. Every day is a challenge though with Middle School kids...the first day (yesterday) some 8th grader stole $ from a kid...today he was arrested!

Money wise I have a wife, two kids (6 and 2), two kittens, and a house payment. Wife does in home day care at about $500 a month and we still get by with enough money to go out a few times a month. Plus it really is worth it when you see a kid "get it"! :D

Three cheers for all of the teachers of the world and all of the patience they possess. We should all have such high levels of dedication and tolerance! :)

I must admit to being just a little disappointed. It would have made for one hell of a story, eh? :D

(For us, that is, perhaps not for you... ;) )

wow. kids in japan don't even have a school break; they go all year 'round. Makes ya think a bit, don't it?
Happy schoolin' and please try to learn to spell better than me, alright?

I always thought it was strange that the two most prevalent occupations (as far as I have seen, anyway) among gamers are technical fields or education.

Being a special education teacher myself, I find that teaching and my writing career mesh very well together. I have time in the evenings to work on various projects, and I'm off in the summer for Origins and GenCon (although I had to fly up to GenCon on Friday this year because of inservice).

The school where I work services fourth through sixth grades. I can spot potential gamers among the crowd, but I consider inappropriate to try and bring them into the fold at such a young age.

I go back next thursday, but water polo practices already started. 6-8 AM and 5-8 PM. No fun. And we have the same schedule DURING school, just with less time in the morning so that we can actually change and get to class at 7:50. Its no fun, but by the time games start we will ROCK the local league. School isnt gonna be too fun either, given that I've done maybe a fifth of my summer homework. Still have a bunch of problems, a few outlines, reading Catcher in the Rye, and writing 2 essays left. And only 8 days! eep!
