You're missing the point! These devices are still controlled by the human brain, but this guy hooked up his nervous system to a computer.

I knew what you meant. I was goofin' off. Hence the :p :p :p smiley.

Perhaps you're missing the point a bit, too. In reading the article, it seems the guy has an implant to allow them to take data concerning his nerve impulses. That hardly makes him a "cyborg". And in some senses it isn't the first meeting of a human nervous system and machine - cochlear implants (and at least one ocular system I know of) have been feeding information into the human nervous system for some time now. This is one small step, not a mighty leap.

True, but the cyber-eye thing is far from perfected - the best they've been able to do with a direct camera-to-brain data feed is allow a blind man to see the rough outlines of large objects.

- Sir Bob.

P.S. Nih!

The best part of the article is at the end - the chip in his other arm to turn the lights on & off when enters & leaves a room.

Great - we finally have the bionic man and he uses the technology to turn himself into the Clapper.

Eh neat, but I'm actually more interested in the Combat Exoskeletons DARPA is building for the Future Warrior program.

Powered Armor...oh yeah! :D

I know that it's just a small step and I actually remember reading about his other chip some time ago, but the implications are pretty big...and that thread about the future of Cyberpunk kind of got me carried away...and I'd just had coffee...and then there was this article, just begging to be related to d20!
