There's also an eBook called Darth Maul Saboteur by James Luceno. He also wrote Cloak of Deception (which I believe follows Saboteur closely timeline wise and has an easter egg for those reading the NJO series), as wells as the NJO Agents of Chaos books.

I just borrowed that book from my library about a week and a half ago along with Foster's The Approaching Storm. But what easter egg?

I also hope Lucas puts out the original versions and special edtions on DVD. The thing I did not like about the special edtions is how Lucas changed some of the diaolgue. I also agree with whoever said Lucas is a control freak. Anyone remember the epiosode of south park where they sneak into skywalker ranch to get the final print of Raiders of the Lost ark from being destroyed? They found tape "my wedding', then, "my wedding, special edtion" and "my first child's birth" and "my first child's birth, special edtion". Why do I think thats not far from the truth?

Umm... didn't I say that in my last post? Episode 609 - Free Hat.

Don't get your hopes up, to everyone who wants to see the original version as an extra or option...

From Lucas' mouth... And in other places he has basicly stated that he will never, ever release the "classic" version again. As far as he is concerned, it never existed, it's just a raw cut of the movie before he got around to finishing it.
Ah, I know all about that quote from Lucas. Spielberg said something similar about the changes in E.T. and the fans spoke out so he made the original cut available. Like I said, it may not happen right away but I still think we'll get the original cut of the trilogy eventually. :)

Don't blame Lucas! Greedo won initiative, but rolled 1 on his attack roll :P!

No way! Han went for the surprise round to get his Sneak Attack damage!

J
...why do you think scoundrels have it in SWd20?

It was not like that at all. Han rolled a natural 20 on his sense motive check against greedo. Got the jump on Him. ;)

dosen't have to do much

This is just to support John in everything he is saying and answer the argument that Lucas dosen't have to do much to get the DVD out. As John sain, he is a control freak. If anyone has seen the making of the special edition, they will notice that he was involved in EVERYTHING. The effect, the music, the sound.. everything. Why would the DVD be any different. He takes full advantage of the technology available. If he is going to do a DVD it would be foolishness to think that he would change his style, sign some paper, nod his head and bang there they are.

I think it is perfectly fine to wait for them.

jumping in this one late after a week at the harry potter symposium and disneyworld.

not only WILL lucas get bashed if he double-dips the original trilogy on dvd, he will be destroyed.

remember, most of us have already bought them on vhs THREE TIMES.
the originals, the thx widescreen, and the special edition set.

so when we buy the dvd, that will be #4...a 2nd version wopuld be #5. plus the movie tickets for the original and special editions... its like paying for the same movie SEVEN TIMES.

now i just sit back, smile and enjoy watching the best movies ever with the best technology BUT i have heard MANY people complain.

and yes, theyre wrong.
but so is anyone on this thread acting like lucas owes them the movies on dvd. there is no law saying he EVER has to release them on dvd. he said orginally he wouldnt release ANY of the 6 until all 6 were done. be happy you got 4 and 5 on dvd. and hope he changes his mind about making both the original and special editions available.

lucas isnt purposely trying to annoy you with new movies that arent as good as the originals or making you wait for the dvds.

There was never any mention of him not ever releasing them.
Not releasing them to date. You were speaking of him being somehow screwed if he "double dipped" consumers by releasing bare bones DVD's early and then SE's later. The point was the public wouldn't be a tenth as annoyed by what he is doing now, not releasing them at all (yet).

Keep in mind I'm playing devil's advocate here. I don't care if he ever releases SW on DVD, because I won't buy anything other than the original versions. Since he said he isn't going to release the originals, I'll probably never buy another SW movie again, save Ep III if its to my liking.

So if you're all into the SE's and waiting until whatever day they come out, that's great. But don't think 1. Lucas can't release full blown super duper versions of the original films RIGHT NOW if he wanted or 2. His reasoning behind NOT doing it is anything other than "Lucas just doesn't feel like it."

Very true. After about six releases on VHS, another three on Laserdisc, if he released TWO MORE versions on DVD Lucas will be destroyed.

After gobbling up nine releases of the same films the public is obviously sending a clear message to George that it WILL NOT BE MANIPULATED. This is the DVD AGE George! We are sheep no longer! Remember the two versions of Spider-Man? E.T.? Lord of the Rings? All had double releases, and their creators DIED because of it. Suicides after emotional scarring from internet bashing.

So will it be with you George. You have been warned....
