Oh man, I hate that I can't get decent reception on SBS... that's where 90% of the matches are screened

Soccer is one of the few sports I like. It involves such a high level of skill that I'm not surprised it's THE most popular sport in the world.

It's a shame our soccer authorities (whatever they're called) are such dunces here. I remember when the world cup was shown and we got into a decent spot and a game was held here and got record crowds and all of Australia was like, "Whoohoo! We love this sport!" and then the soccer authorities pulled some idiotic stunt where they charged people to play at amatuer level or some such which effectively killed the sport here, yet again.

Btw, if you've ever got the chance, try watching league... they don't need no steenkin' padding

It's soccer! Every other match is a 0-0 draw! Occasionally they'll have a high-scoring game that ends up as 2-1 or so... *yawn*

No way! Soccer is one of the most exhilerating sports to watch BECAUSE of the low scoring. Every time a team gets the ball into a scoring position you're on the edge of your seat, wondering, hoping, fearing, 'cause you know if the goal is got, another one isn't coming any time soon so if it's your team that got the goal, you're like, "YES! HAHAHA! SUCK ON THAT YAH COMMIES!" and if it's not, then you're like, "ACK! OH DEAR GOD IT'S NO LONGER WORTH LIVING! Oh... wait... there's always the slimmest of chances... should I hope against hope? Hey, they've got a corner! YES! GO FOR IT BOYS! WHOOOOO!"

I find it far more exciting to watch than Aussie Rules where every other minute, yet another goal is scored and if it isn't, they got points for trying

not that I enjoy gloating at all...



that said being up to watch the match start at 4:00am was nasty...! ...but a certain level of dedication is required to follow football in Australia...
