[OT] To All Who Know Me ... Sad News

This thread reminds me of why EN World kicks so much ass. Go EN World! In no other forum on the planet would a member feel comfortable to say this kind of thing on a message board, let alone have this kind of response. It's threads like these that make me come back here day after day, even if I usually only lurk. EN World is one of the best forums on the net.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE STOP CRYING! It is not the end of the world! You aren't really helping Ryan with your sad smilies and "i don't know what to say"-messages. Really, I think him and his boyfriend can take care of that themselves. In fact, I think you make it much worse, thank you very much. I have social phobia, and my EQ is probably lower than my shoesize, but even I can understand this.

Angelsboi. Currently, there are 4 2 0 0 0 0 0 0, that is 42 *million* people in the world with HIV or AIDS according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! And most important, due to modern medicine, HIV is NOT dangerous any more! In fact, the mortality rate has DROPPED OVER 85 PERCENT from 1996 to 2002, and even more now in 2003! It is probably more dangerous to drive a car or eat fat food, not to mention smoking!

So don't worry about it! Follow the doctor's advice and everything will be FINE, I promise you! This is so overhyped (just like the monk three years ago!) Just live, play Dungeons & Dragons, hang around with friends and play some more Dungeons & Dragons! Play video games! Read! Watch Monthy Python and the Life of Brian! And most imporant, be with your boyfriend. He seems to be a very nice person. Maybe you two can play Dungeons & Dragons every day? :)

Always look on the bright side of life you know! It could be worse! There are nothing more healthy than a smile and positive thinking, never forget... :)

I don't know you and you don't me, but you're in my thoughts and prayers to be one of the success stories like Magic Johnson.

As others have said, don't be afraid to be afraid. One of the things that was drilled into me in college (military school): Fear is natural. Courage isn't the lack of fear, it's the ability to carry on in the presence of it.

As far as your past health is concerned, you're in good company. Lord Nelson was a sickly child and easily became seasick as a boy. There probably has never been a greater naval commander. Mother Theresa was sickly, even after going to India, but before finding her true calling. Look what her love and kindness was able to accomplish. It is amazing how our bodies can respond when we have a passion or purpose.

Thanks for the words. Psi - They are just telling me that they support me. Im still in the beginning stages and its all scary and new to me. Yes, I know that I'll live but its nice to know people care.

I mean, when I found out, i was so cared. I kept thinking If I die tomorrow, who would be at my funeral?

I guess Ive always been morbid like that. Its nice to know so many people care.

Thank you all. Remember, you can always keep up with my sad little life on my life journal. Ive been told its a good read =)

Indeed. Whereas what you SHOULD be thinking is, if I die tomorrow, who would get my dice?

*nods* Advancements in medicine are breath-taking.

BTW, combining several of these hazards increases the risk a lot, too. Like, driving a car while smoking and eating fatty food. ;)

Wow, Angelsboi... I just stumbled upon your thread this evening... I think it took an incredible amount of courage on your part to be so open about your life and your HIV status online (I visited your diary page) ... I think that's a good sign :) ; it tells me you are strong in spirit--I don't know if I would be strong enough to do the same if I were to be in your shoes--I think the bravery you've shown will serve you well! :)

Btw, a thought just occurred to me: if you and your fiancé are ready, come up to Niagara, Toronto or even Ottawa and really "get married"! :D

Honey, you just tell that virus to "stuff-it", and get yourself and your boyfriend up here to be hitched! Now... what to wear? No, not you guys, moi! I'm gonna be there to see you two tie the knot. And dahlings, I'm not going to miss the event, even if I break a nail!

;)

Yep, in Canada same-sex marriage is now legally recognized in the Province on Ontario (and British Columbia as of yesterday!)... Just an idea--an optimistic notion... :)

Take care of yourself, Ryan, we'll all be looking for you here! Keep posting! ;)

*hug*
