About your always being sickly:
A good friend of mine was constantly sick. About 7 years ago he was diagnosed HIV+. Following his doctors advice and taking his meds, he is now healthier than I have ever seen him.
Hang in there.

AB,
Believe in your ability to survive and prosper; don't give up. Surround yourself with people who care about you and find all the HIV info you can process. You are as in control now as you've ever been and don't let anyone or anything convince you otherwise. Despair is your enemy much more than the virus.

Many people care a lot about you and you've touched many lives without even knowing it (mine included). People have a lot of faith in you and it's not misplaced.

My partner has been positive for many years and he is in great health. You have the world in front of you, still.

Get on it, you've got living to do and that's a considerable amount of work.

Peace,
vox

Since I only know you through your postings on this board, the best comfort I have is that I expect to be (and look forward to) reading your posts for many years to come.

Ryan,

You and your family will be in the prayers of ours. You have been a constant presence on these messageboards, and I look forward to seeing and hearing from you for years to come!

God bless you!

Chin up

Be positive and think about the good things in your life.
The many friends and people who respect you for your contributions to the board.
Take every opportunity and enjoy being alive, and take care of yourself. Dont let it get you down, and try not to be afraid.
You were brave enough to make known your lifestyle choices, in a world were most poeple will judge you without even knowing you. And now that you are sick you have been brave enough to let the ones who care for you know it, you have the strength of all the good people that gather here to help you through whatever you may face in the future.
You have made your mark here on many souls, and how many could say that people who dont even know them would shed tears for them. I was like many floored when I read what I did, in fact the wieght of the title before I even opened the thread was immense. Just seeing that something was sad in the life of someone you feel you almost know, was enough to make me feel down. Seeing your name in so many posts, makes me feel like you are family in a way.
So even though I dont know you, I care for you.
And I wish you every happiness you can glean from this world, and want you to know that if you want to talk, scream or whatever you need to cope I am here.

The last I heard from Ryan, he was tired all the time, and waiting for a t-cell count test of some kind next week. It looks like he'll be going through some tests to see what drug regimen would be best to keep the virus under control. Hopefully the right combination of drugs will be found soon. (A young lady of my acquaintance nearly died because she proved to be allergic to the most commonly used Lupus medication then available.)

Ryan, don't be afraid to be afraid. This is a scary situation, no sense in denying that. But don't let the fear rule your life. Take time for yourself, and for you and your beau. Seriously, as someone who's lived a few lives before this, the worst part about dying is the anticipation. Don't worry about it, it'll happen when it happens. Live as fully as you can.

From the opening scene for Zorba the Greek

Life is what you do,
While you're waiting to die.
Life is how the time goes by.

Life is how you stand,
Just before you are flat.
Life is simply that, mister,
Life is simply that, mister,
Life is nothing more than that!

So live, dammit, or Col Pladoh and I will hold a pun war in your hospice room.
