I had a couple of stuffed monkeys that my girlfriend hated, so I bought her a bear and made a slide show recounting the tale of the bear sneaking into the house and dispatching the monkeys one by one as they caused mischief and mayhem with all her stuff.

I think the decapitation scene was a classic.

He forgot to mention why I hated the monkeys.

BtW, it was a very nice slide show. I laughed a lot.

I always get my gf (now fiancee ) something nice for Valentines... but I've never gotten the feeling from her that she has "earned" it, or somehow it's required. She's the only one I know that's felt that way... it's interesting to see that so many women (in my perception) seem to be so hung-up on stuff like this.

I don't think they feel they have earned it, but feel that the boyfriend does not respect them enough to observe this cultural celebration.

There have been some good gifts mentioned here. Keep'em coming cause I need some ideas. We just put all of our extra money as a down payment on a new house, so my usual jewelry or getaway is not an option. I am thinking a trip to Victoria's Secret.
