Because invisible people make stupid photos? :D

PS

if you take the movie as a basis for the powrs of the ring. only hobbits are invisible when wearing the ring. Sauron, the Dark Lord, was plain to see.

There was a thread on LotR Modern a few days ago on RPG.net.
LotR Modern

Some ideas.

The Nazgul. Nine black ops agents. When first encountered they ride motorcycles, but after being defeated they come back in Harriers.

Aragorn: A wandering vigilante and son or grandson of a decorated war hero who disappeared in parts unknown. He carries an old M1911 that is highly damaged.

Gandalf: And elderly hippy who goes by the name of Mr. G, everybody knows him.

Boromir: Idealistic FBI (or government agency of choice) agent, he desires the ring to rid the world of evil.

Legolas: Japanese, he has a sniper rifle, 'nuff said.

Gimli: Russian, with a auto-shotgun and beard.

Well, they have much cooler ideas.

Perhaps the Ring operates by drawing the bearer into a more spiritual plane of existance only tenuously related to our own, allowing more powerful beings to draw awesome energy to themselves, which could create an 'avatar' on the material plane that could, I dunno, smash up armies. OR, perhaps the Ring operates by augmenting the natural tendencies of the bearer; in the case of a Hobbit, they're good at hiding (they live in holes, you know); in the case of a necromantic Dark Lord, they're good at conquering and making the masses fear their power. You see how it works.

The question is, what do these effects do to Dubya?

(Must... resist... answering... own... question...)

I thought the evil script was only visible if the ring was heated up, just what was Bush doing before that pic was taken?

When Gandalf is in the Library in FotR, I think one of the parchments read something like "The Power of the ring has faded, and now only fire will show its [something]". And I think the script shows up when it was on Sauron's finger.

But I think we all knew who the Dark one was anyway, right?

and bush?

Bush is obviously Maiar. :)

Seriously, though, the idea of Bush as a modern Saruman is kinda interesting. Once the leader of the forces of good (YMMV, let's keep it nice), he's slowly becoming power-mad and turning to the dark path.

If that's true, maybe the ring is heated because there's an intern under his desk. :)
