[OT] Who are YOU and what do you DO?

Yeah, a Lubbock is a nice place. A quiet place, but a nice place. Everyone else my age hates it here, but they're mostly people who complain that there is not enough shopping malls or night clubs or whatever else they might want. The problem with Lubbock, gaming-wise, is that, right now, there are three gaming stores in competition with each other, and the gaming community is going slow here. A lot of people have quit playing Magic: The Gathering and D&D (well, I can't say quit, but they don't show up at my FLGS as often as they used to). I go to Mad Hatter's House of Games, which is on University Avenue across from Texas Tech (right across from the Tech 'Oreo Cookie', as some people call it). It's a sweet place. If you ever go to Lubbock and consider buying gaming stuff, go to Mad Hatter's. According to one of the owners of Hatter's, he says that the gaming situation is so bad here, he predicts that in one year, only one store will be left standing (one store is Challenge Games, the other is Victory Games, which only exists because the owner used to work at Challenge but was fired so he started his gaming store as spite). Hatter's is the oldest gaming store in Lubbock (been there for almost ten years), and I really hope that it stays.

By the way, my mother works at Texas Tech, too. She's a director of referrals at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. I know that's not really the same thing, but ain't it a coincidence anyways?

Thanks for the compliment!

Cheers!

I'm Cyragnome...I lurk...occasionally :)

Awww...what the heck...I'm 34 and live in the DC Metro Area (Northern VA) where I'm a tool of the "Man..." er...a consultant. I'm married with our first anniversary in Sept, although our first wedding anniversary is our 11th anniversary of when we began living in sin :)

I have a BA in Anthropology from Michigan State and have worked as a lithic analyst (read Archaeologist who knows a lot about rocks ;) ) on a number of digs both in the US and abroad (although not in the last 10 years)...

I started playing D&D sometime in the late 70's...I actually started with the Traveller LBB's, then moved to D&D...right now I'm involved in a group of HERO players and we have three games running after a hiatus of about 10 years or so...

I'm a Scorpio, I like the Jayhawks and like mowing the lawn in my skivvies...er...um...

I was born in Wabash, Indiana to a long line of Brethren ministers, grew up in Clinton Township, Michigan just outside of Detroit and now live in teeny tiny Greeneville, Tennessee.

I'll be 33 next month, I'm married with 4 kids (all girls) ages 1 to 11, and my wife is a wonderful gamer girl I converted to D&D when we were in high school. We were determined to give our daughters a start in life as unique and interesting individuals, so we gave them all unusual names: Corina Angelica, Rhiannon Siobhan, Faelyn Reneé, and Zoë Beatrice. We have a blue angora rabbit named Blueberry, a black-and-white cat named Sneak, and her three kittens named Spice, Slink, and Sugar Bugger.

I'm a Night Shift Supervisor at Kmart and I supplement my income by writing for Dragon (see my sig!), acting as an independent service rep for retail companies, and working as a chat moderator on a chat site.

I started playing D&D in 1982 and I have no other hobbies. Well, I read fantasy stuff, watch fantasy movies, and collect dragons...but it's all research for my gaming. I have a degree in English and was certified to teach in the state of Tennessee, but English high school teachers locally are granted undead status and never retire, so my certification has long expired.

Actually, I do have another hobby -- I like to write poetry, and my favorite format is the cinquain. And I still remember the prologue to the Canterbury Tales in Middle English from high school, and it annoys my wife to no end when I start spouting it off for no reason. (She was in my high school English class and can't forget the prologue, because I won't let her! :p )

33 year old unemployed Safety Engineer (currently back in college finishing up Masters degree). Married with 2 children from previous relationship (2 girls; 11 and 6). Hobbies are gaming (since I was 8 years old), history (particularly military history), cars (I'm on my 14th car right now), and anime. My family is full of welders and harness horse racing trainers. My back looks like a car wreck due to a car wreck I was in when I was 17. In general I talk to much and don't know when to give up and just quit (which gets me tied up into all sorts of discussions around here). My wife would tell you I spend too much time online too. Oh and I use way to many smileys:D

I'm Eric Noah, 34-year-old middle school teacher/ librarian from Madison Wisconsin. I've been married for 9 years and I'm a Scorpio.

Also, this is a BUMP.

I'm 26, recently married, living in Rochester MN. Yes, there is another Rochester out there. I work for Big Blue(IBM), working on a Playstation 3. Trust me, it will be a lot more fun to play then to build.

Been gaming since I was 11. Thought TMNT was the greatest roleplaying game ever. Boy, was I wrong. Anyways, been playing consistantly ever since. Other than that, I am into painting minis, playing video games, playing raquetball and paintball, bodybuilding/power lifting and throughly enjoying time with my lovely wife. :)

My mummy told me not to give out personal information on the internet.

Come now Bagpuss … live dangerously.

I’m a 27 year old, single, white female (hey how often do I get to write that!) Adore using exclamation marks. Think that there should exist a punctuation mark which is a cross between an exclamation mark and a question mark. I’m an actuary (think statistician of death) and greatly enjoy my job. My ability to tell people their life expectancy makes me surprisingly popular at parties. Moved to the UK from dear old Ostraya 6 months ago. I’ve been playing D&D for about 3 years now after a friend introduced me to it stating that she refused to lose her new husband every Sunday afternoon or be the only female at the gaming table. I immediately became obsessed with dice – though with such a statisical background there really was no hope for me. I love Douglas Adams, gory murder novels, secretly believe that most of the world’s problems could be solved if everyone just ate more chocolate and judge people on their ability to quote from Monty Python, Red Dwarf and Blackadder.

Okay... I'm 33, went grey haired by about 25, married to a lovely Spanish lady. I work in as a computer technician in a 6th form college, I live in the UK have been roleplaying since about 14, have more roleplaying books than £'s in my current accout. And.... we are expect our first child in January next year. :D
