And the other match:

India 204 (48.5 overs)
Tendulkar 52, Mongia 42, De Leede 4/35.

See what I mean? Aarrgh!!!

Actually this is the great thing with being an Indian supporter. Every match is potentially a nailbiter, since India can follow-on against Australia and then kick them all around the park, or score 204 vs. the Netherlands. You poor Aussies have to put up with consistency and perfection every time your team plays. How boring! :D

Here we are:

Kenya 140 (38)
Shah 60, Odoyo 22, Kluesnar 4/16.

were defeated by

South Africa 142/0 (21.2 overs)
Gibbs 87, Kirsten 52.

Player of the match: Kluesnar

And...

India 204 (48.5 overs)
Tendulkar 52, Mongia 42, De Leede 4/35.

defeated
The Netherlands 136 (48.1 overs)
van Bunge 62, Smits 26, Srinath 4/30

Player of the match: de Leede.

Tonight: West Indies v New Zealand, and was supposed to be Zimbabwe v England but England have boycotted. My tip: New Zealand (and I'm now 4 from 7).

NZ to bet West Indies. And I'm 6 from 7 ;)

Show-off :p

Right now it looks like you're going to be 7 from 8. New Zealand scored 241/7, and the Windies are at 46/4 in 13.4 overs with Lara (2) and Hooper (3) back in the pavilion.

India v Oz. The big one. I would cancel any plans I had on Saturday night to watch this, but unfortunately I don't have any plans :( . I think India will win, but I hope they don't. :)

I'm not certain who will win this one... I think that the winner of the coin toss will have an advantage given that the teams are quite evenly matched (or at least have been in the past)... from what I've seen India are not as good at chasing a target as the Australians... but there bowlers have given us some real trouble at times...

all other issues aside, I think this will be one of the best matches to watch in the first stage of the tourament... and I imagine this match will be something of a preview of the finals...

:)

OT: OT: England 1 Australia 3

I hate to hijack this thread, but it seems to be mostly aussies here and I didn't want to create another OT thread as per Piratecat's request.

Did anyone watch/notice Australias 3-1 thumping of England in the soccer friendly? I watched it the other night and was absolutely shocked. The Press is calling it perhaps England's most humiliating defeat ever.

Harry Kewell's goal was abolute class, I have to say. It was a great game.

I saw highlights of that soccer friendly on TransWorld Sport (thank God for digital cable). England seemed unready to take the field.

Back on topic... Why are England boycotting the World Cup? I'm also in the States, and even TransWorld doesn't say very much about that particular issue.

Anyway, I'm taking Australia for the Cup. But my favorite cricket squad will always be the Windies.

[edit: I have to get this in, too: the first cricket match I saw was when my parents had Satellite TV 15 years ago, Windies v. Pakistan. Waqar Younis, Bryan Lara, Desmond Haynes, Javid Miandad all on the same pitch. Hard to believe that Younis and Lara are still in the game...]

I was up at 3:00am to watch it live... what an amazing game...!

Popovic's goal was great and Ericsson or Beckham should have had someone taller marking him during that piece of play...

Viduka was just plain unlucky... some keepers wouldn't have managed to tip that shot over the bar...

Kewell's goal was just exquisite... and given that he was playing with the flu, it even better...

and Emerton's goal was a good example of counter attacking football and co-operation...
