Other classic Scifi remakes

Which old scifi tv show do you think should be or like to see remade for today?
Personal I would like to see a new Buck Rogers and here are few others:
Buck Rogers
Space: 1999
The Tomorrow People
Lost in Space
Man from Atlantis
Time Tunnel (maybe)
UFO (classic 60's)

Now what about Scifi/fantasy Novel series that you might think work for tv?
Lensman
Ringworld
Neuromancer
Wheel of Time
Harry Potter (animated)

This is to name a few but you get the idea.

Lost in Space was done not long ago, though. I'd like to see a new (and good) Flash Gordon. I especially loved the old Filmation cartoon. I'd love to see a Thundarr the Barbarian movie, just for the camp if nothing else.

Seeing as I'm just reading Zelazny's 'Lord of Light' for the first time, my vote's for it.

I'm not sure who you could get to direct it, since getting the tone just right would be paramount...

Flash Gordon would be fun with modern sfx. It would have to be done just right, not too campy, and kept in its original style and tone rather than updated. It's no good without weirdly shaped helmets, women in slinky outifts, and good old-fashioned ray guns. :)

It would be fun to see a redo of UFO, a fave of mine, with some real characters and plots that make sense. Looks like someone's doing something similar this fall, though. I forget which network, but there's a show called 'Threshold' about alien first contact with Earth.

Time Tunnel was redone in the 80/90's and called Quantum Leap.

Lost in Space is essentially Gilligain's Island on a spaceship. It and Space:1999 are different takes on the same subject. I'd only want to see something like this done if they actually had a plot/plan for things and an ending in mind, rather like they are supposed to be doing for Lost.

Lensman could work as a TV series. You keep the broad meta plot and toss in episodes of "Bosoconian Plot of the week as fillers". However, the dialogue if faithful would be stomach churning. I can't reread the novels because of it.

I'd far more prefer that they stop doing so many remakes, and give us more series with quality original content. Even if the new War of the Worlds and Battlestar Galactica are good, we need new ideas more than we need old ones rehashed.

I keep hearing about a Logan's Run remake, I think that would be kind of a fun idea. I wouldn't mind seeing a movie adaptation of The Prisoner either (Uwe Boll/Schumaker/Bruckhiemer free please).

I do think it's right to point out, though, that it's Brannon Braga doing that series (Berman's worse half).

I have heard rumors of a Time Tunnel movie. Though I have not found anything concrete about it.

Though on the Flash Gordon front, Van Helsing writer-director Stephen Sommers and his producing partner Bob Ducsay have just acquired the rights to Flash Gordon and are about to feature him in a film for Universal.

While Van Helsing proved to be a box office disappointment, Sommers' other creations, such as The Mummy franchise, gave him the juice to deal with the well-known superhero. Sommers plans to both write and direct.
