Other classic Scifi remakes

It would be fun to see a redo of UFO, a fave of mine, with some real characters and plots that make sense.
But wouldn't real characters spoil the fun? I mean, characters that acted appropriately to an alien invasion wouldn't be U.F.O...

I mean, I'd see it. So long as the kept the Scotch-O-Matic in Straker's office. And his cool hair...

I would like to keep this topic within tv series/mini-series away from movies. Another list i like to add would be games into tv shows. When mean I mean video, board, card table-top game that would be good for televison.

I think after the Logan's Run movie there was breifly a television series based on it.

Though on the Flash Gordon front, Van Helsing writer-director Stephen Sommers and his producing partner Bob Ducsay have just acquired the rights to Flash Gordon and are about to feature him in a film for Universal.

While Van Helsing proved to be a box office disappointment, Sommers' other creations, such as The Mummy franchise, gave him the juice to deal with the well-known superhero. Sommers plans to both write and direct.
I just heard about that too. Hopefully good news.

Off topic, I didn't know that Van Helsing was financially disappointing; I had thought it did relatively well. Considering how stupid it was. :p

I think Hollywood should stop doing remakes of old movies. As a stupid, red-state midwesterner my brain hurts from their complicated plots.

They should remake recent remakes. That way, I already know the plot from seeing the movie 2 or 3 times before. They should definitely strip out any big words and take any movie set in the past and update it to the present. And add lots of explosions and car chases and fart jokes and talking animals. Make sure the main hero gets the girl in the end and kills the bad guy.

Ok, maybe they should make the occasional original movie, but only if its a sequel (or better yet, prequel!). And they should roll out whatever old director or actor made the original good--I love seeing famous people's mid-life crisis projects!

Oh yeah, and find a bunch of foreign movies and remake them--I don't want to have to read subtitles or deal with dubs. Make sure you replace all the original actors with hip, vat-grown SoCal hotties and change the dialogue so its mostly American slang.

There was in fact a TV series. I used to enjoy it. But I was a kid at the time... :)

One aspect I liked was that it gave a bigger view of the LR universe. It also gave you a number of Post-Apoc story-lines.

I have vague memories of it was well. I also remember another series involving Roddy McDowell and the Bermuda Triangle, ring any bells? Ooooh and remember Ark II? I loved that crazy winnebago. (Right out of Damnation Alley!)

Is it truly financially disappointing? I mean, I may have skipped the theater dates but I did bought the DVD. I kinda like it myself, though it is better off as a TV series.
