Other plastic minis compatible with D&D minis

What other plastic minis are compatible with D&D, specifically in terms of scale?

There are some Heroscape figures that look like they would fit in nicely, but I'm having a hell of a time finding info about their scale.

What about Mage Knight? I know the bases are too large; the figures would have to be moved to smaller bases. But what about scale?

Are there any other prepainted plastic minis available that could work with D&D minis? I know that Reaper has released a few. Any others?

Those plastic orcs, skeletons and chaos warriors from the Hero Quest board game work.
I use them a lot. I wish I could find more on the net for a reasonable price. They are very simple... not too flashy but a step up from just using dice.

What about the LotR tradeable miniatures game? What's the scale on those minis?
The LotR pre-painted mini's ('combat hex' I think they are called - or something like it) are a lot larger.

I got hold of a single Haradrim warrior for just such a purpose (i.e. to check the scale) and then tossed it straight in the bin :(

Yeah, I just googled it and they're apparently 40mm, which is 33% larger than D&D mini scale. Shame.

I posted these pic's in a thread not so long back... but here they are again :)

First, here's a few mage knight mini's that I've re-based (giant wasp & wolf mini's are on 40mm bases, the ghost-thing is on a standard 25mm/1" base):

And here's a few Dreamblade mini's (also re-based), with a D&D cleric mini thrown in for scale purposes:

Kris:

If you don't mind me asking, how'd you convert those mage knight and Dreamblade minis? Mostly, I'm asking how you prepped them to put them on a base. Was it just some very careful cutting or something?

With Regards,
Flynn

They're not prepainted, right? Not that that's a deal-breaker or anything, just a thought for anyone who wants a consistent look on the table.

Right. They are just solid colors. Orcs and goblins are all green. Skeletons and zombies are white. Chaos warriors are gray...
