D&D 5E Out of the Abyss OOC

I haven't had any issue with load time or adding shapes. I discovered the same issue with transparency of objects. I could view the map on my phone, could highlight a particular object, but was unable to actually move it.

Kobold Stew, how quick did Google Draw load for you? Did it crash?

It was fast; no problems. There's now a circle on top that had to be moved before the spider could be moved.

I am not overly concerned, but I do note that using this system seems to make or real e-mails and names (or at least some of them) available to each other and possibly to others. (Maybe only because I'm signed in to G+?).

I am not pushing for this level of control, and only would want it if it is making things easier on you as DM.

I'm signed in, too. What of my info can you guys see? While I am absolutely fine with any of you lot seeing my Google+ info, including my name and photo, I'm totally not cool with this being available to the public for the reason that my work is sensitive and I hesitate to put my family at risk. We could move to an emailed or PMed link rather than a link I post in the IC, but--again--that's adding layers of complexity. Dropbox has the same issue, I note.

I haven't had the chance to download/use the Google Draw app. However, if there are issues people aren't comfortable with or if it adds complexity then it defeats the purpose and we should stay with things as they are. It was just a suggestion and I can accept that it might not work for this group.

I can't access Google Draw without having a Google account. I could create a fake Google account, but that sort of rankles. I don't really want to do that. Alternately, I could elect to share the file with you lot by name, and permit you lot to edit, which would both grant you the ability to edit and not let anyone else either view or edit the map. But you'd have to consent to everyone in OotA having your Google+ info. This is not an issue for me, but I respect that it might be an issue for others.

I see your name and link to your G+page.
I see my gmail address, but changes I make seem to be anonymous, which they'd stop being if I coppered the chat box. Maybe that's it.

Well, we're in test mode right now, so now's the time to discuss it. Thanks for being flexible. I agree player agency is a good thing. It's certainly something I want as DM.

Let's wait for the others to weigh in. Things I still want to know are whether mobile users who've downloaded the Google Draw app can move the spider and create AoE shapes for spells, how much time it takes others to access and manipulate Google Draw, how much time it takes me to access and manipulate Google Draw from my house, and what the others think about giving out their Google+ info.

You appear as anonymous to me while you are editing the drawing. But the public viewing my name and a link to my G+ page is a problem for me on my end, and it's non-negotiable. If we do this, we'd have to all agree to provide our Google e-mail address to one another so that I could publish the link only to a restricted list of users (you lot), who would then have access to view and edit.

I'd like everyone to test out the map in Dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/s/74sjv8c32it75jv/OotA_VelkynvelveMasterMap.xlsx?dl=0

Right off the bat, I notice that Dropbox does not support backgrounds in Excel. So that pretty much makes the damned map useless in Dropbox (the grid and the icons show up, but none of the main portion of the map does because it's the background).

EDIT: It's probably moot since Dropbox doesn't fully support Excel, but the only way I can set user permissions to allow you guys to edit is if I supply an email address for each of you.
