The source of the noise Solace has heard (Ce'rek) is 80 feet from Solace, and 65 feet from Kago. Saw your last post in the IC, Kobold Stew. Solace could move 30 feet and Ce'rek would be within her field of darkvision. How much further up than 30' do you want Solace to move?

I'm trying to balance player knowledge and character knowledge, CB. Sorry if I made things worse.

-- Solace is going up to the sounds and drowning it in light, on the belief that light causes under dwellers to suffer more in combat. She doesn't know there's only one, and so is illuminating the area, but not attacking immediately (this last a balanace of player knowledge, but also the character giving a clear target to the party if there are dozens, or whatever.

If she sees just one, she can move beyond him, (disengage and move away 10', say) to "surround" him.

Is that better?

You didn't make it worse, KS. Not at all. I figured you were fishing for more info from me about what Solace sees, and I was happy to supply it. Ce'rek is parked at the lip of a tight passageway that's not more than ten feet wide at the mouth and quickly narrows to 5' wide. I don't have it mapped (it exists only in my head at the moment, mainly because I'm not anticipating combat). Light is a spell that requires touch, so I'll have Solace come right up to Ce'rek (per your description here), and cast light on the rock wall. We're not on combat rounds, but I'll give Ce'rek a chance to respond to her approaching and casting the spell before we go further with the encounter. Solace could, in theory, slide around to Ce'rek's backside. Doing so would prompt an opportunity attack from Ce'rek if she also moved out of his reach. I'd like to hold that series of actions, though, until we see how Ce'rek responds to being approached.

Re: Quiescence journal - yes, I'd noticed the pace had slowed. Even after Cerek joins, not sure if it will immediately pick up since, being a sandbox style, there may be disadisagreement where to go now.

Maybe Cerek, with his knowledge of the area, can make that decision easier. It's interesting to compare with tabletop actually, where leadership and interpersonal dynamics are very obvious.. here I feel everyone is very considerate of giving everyone else a say and allowing them to role play, which is great but possibly makes it harder to make group decisions? I don't know, this is my first pbp. Those who have played before, would you say this game is typical or unusual in that regard? :)

I don't know. I thought we did a great job making a decision with the kuo-toa. ;)

Brinn's going to be in a passive spot for a while. In addition to the whole, "trained his whole life to follow orders" thing, now he's got the, "seriously, knocked out?" vibe.

Yes, that's an interesting choice for role playing… doesn't mean you can't express a preference as a player, though, here in the ooc thread:)
