With 3.5, so far everything is all good. What do you mean faulty mechanics? That is quite an accusation that is completely unsupported (and will be blasted to shreds if you do).

However, George Takai really SHOULD be the new Green Lantern (with illusionist as favored class, of course).

I think it's funny that this thread to gather all the anger over how bad 3.5 supposedly is has already fallen flat on its' face.

Wait until the books come out, read the SRD, listen to the designers talk about the reasoning behind the changes, and then decide whether the bad outweighs the good to such an extent that your $90 is better spent elsewhere.

Sound advice indeed -- at the end of a post that was, IMO, very well-written. Do you write speeches for a living ... ?

But anyway; awaiting the final 3.5 changes is why I've put my own, personal "D&D My Way" house rules project largely on hold; WRT the stuff I didn't like already I want to see how WOTC does it, and if I like it, I go with it. If not ... no extra work for me, I'd've done the personal reworking anyway.

And you're right ... this is the same response 3.0 got formt eh diehard 2e crowd.

And for that matter (yes, I'm old neough to remember this), the same response 2e got from the 1e crowd, too.

There was a die-hard 2nd Ed. crowd? Have they been shot :)

PS: I have nothing to contribute further to this debate, except that i think 3E is great, it needs tweaks, but, IMHO, it doesn't need to cost be a whole new set of books... We have enough to play on already

Thanks, Pax.

And I'm a lawyer, so yeah, I get paid for that kind of stuff.

And the funny thing is, the whole speech amounts to "hahahaha you don't matter, what you think doesn't matter, nobody cares what you think so why don't you go into the corner and f@!$k yourself?"

For all that every thread where people voice concerns about 3.5e now has several posts saying essentially accusing them of simply being whiny spoiled power gamers, it's the 3.5e boosters who seem to really take the cake for rudeness and beligerancy.

If the poster wants to express his frustration that WotC is taking a good game and ruining it through how does that hurt you? If it makes no difference, why should you care?

I don't mean to imply that Gyr's opinion doesn't matter. I simply think that he overestimates how much it matters, and how many other people share his opinion.

Furthermore, Gyr didn't just state an opinion --- he asked for everyone to pitch in so that he could "show the designers and parent company that they messed up."

I think that sending a game designer a petition telling him his work sucks is inappropriate under any circumstances. The game designers know where to go if they want to read criticism, don't they?

But sending a game designer a sort of petition which purports to "show him that he messed up" before the work in question even sees print? That upsets me.

If my post was rude and belligerent, then I apologize. It was not intended as a personal attack.

Come on, folks -- let's keep this civil, ok? I know it's hard when "the other guy" has an opinion that's totally foreign to you, but please be respectful of each other.

Except, of course, that the 1e crowd were RIGHT! :)

But I do luv 3e, and will luv 3.5e even more. I have liked every change I have heard rumour of, without exception. I just pray they will change the half-elf race too.
